💥 Public Citizen estimates $4.7B in investor losses tied to Trump’s crypto ventures
Public Citizen estimates that investors in Donald Trump and his family’s crypto-related ventures have been left at least $4.7 billion underwater since 2022. The estimate covers Trump Digital Trading Cards, the WLFI governance token, the TRUMP memecoin, USD1 stablecoin and Trump Media’s digital-asset treasury.
The largest component is the TRUMP memecoin, estimated at $3.2 billion in investor losses, followed by roughly $1 billion tied to WLFI and $450 million associated with Trump Media’s digital-asset treasury. Public Citizen says these figures are largely unrealized and, in the case of TRUMP, represent wealth transferred to a relatively small group of early buyers rather than money simply disappearing.
💥 Bitcoin’s 23% rally sends beaten-down miners soaring past AI stocks
Bitcoin’s roughly 23% rally over the past week has triggered a sharp rebound in beaten-down Bitcoin mining stocks, with some miners significantly outperforming AI and high-performance computing (HPC) stocks. Canaan, American Bitcoin and Cango gained roughly 41%–67%, while AI/HPC names such as CoreWeave, Nebius and IREN posted smaller gains.
BlocksBridge Consulting attributed the move to a combination of improving liquidity expectations, renewed US crypto-regulatory optimism and a short squeeze following Bitcoin’s breakout. More than $1.6 billion in crypto positions were reportedly liquidated over 24 hours, amplifying the move.
💥 Sparrow Wallet releases update after AI-assisted security review
Privacy-focused Bitcoin wallet Sparrow Wallet has released version 2.5.4 after an AI-assisted review of its code identified multiple issues. Developer Craig Raw said the AI review produced most of the fixes included in the update, although the specific AI models used were not disclosed.
The review was partly motivated by the growing ability of AI models to search large codebases for potential exploits. Sparrow’s update includes fixes related to transaction verification, hardware wallet security, secret handling and privacy features. The official download page lists version 2.5.4 as signed and available for users.
Importantly, Raw said the identified issues did not appear likely to put users’ funds at risk, and there is no public evidence that these Sparrow vulnerabilities were exploited.
The episode nevertheless shows how AI-assisted security research is becoming increasingly useful for auditing crypto wallet software.
💥 Grayscale says Zcash could challenge Bitcoin’s network effects as privacy demand grows
Grayscale Research says Zcash (ZEC) could become a meaningful challenger to Bitcoin’s entrenched network effects as demand for financial privacy increases. The firm argues that Zcash benefits from “second-mover advantages,” combining Bitcoin-like monetary properties with stronger built-in privacy features.
Grayscale points to the rapid adoption of AI and AI-powered surveillance as a potential catalyst for greater demand for private financial transactions. Zcash’s shielded transactions can hide transaction details while still allowing users to prove certain information when needed.
