Before You Buy Any Crypto Token, Check These 7 Things
A token can look exciting.
The community can be growing.
The chart can be pumping.
But none of that automatically makes it a good investment.
Before researching any crypto project seriously, I like to check these 7 things:
1️⃣ Market Cap
How much is the project currently valued at?
A low market cap can mean higher growth potential, but it can also mean higher risk.
2️⃣ FDV (Fully Diluted Valuation)
Don't look only at the current market cap.
If a large amount of tokens are still locked, future token releases could create significant selling pressure.
3️⃣ Circulating Supply
How many tokens are actually in the market?
A huge total supply with a small circulating supply deserves extra attention.
4️⃣ Token Unlocks
When will the remaining tokens enter circulation?
Large unlocks can potentially increase supply and put pressure on price.
5️⃣ Real Utility
Ask a simple question:
Why does this token need to exist?
Does it actually provide utility within the ecosystem, or is the narrative doing most of the work?
6️⃣ Team & Backers
Who is building the project?
Who funded it?
Are the team members and investors publicly known?
These factors don't guarantee success, but they can provide important context.
7️⃣ Real Activity
Don't judge a project only by its follower count.
Look at:
• Users
• Developers
• Transactions
• TVL, where relevant
• Revenue, where applicable
• Ecosystem growth
The biggest lesson:
A good-looking chart is not the same thing as a good project.
Price tells you what the market is doing.
Fundamentals help you understand what you're actually buying.
And remember:
Research first.
Risk management second.
FOMO last.
Not financial advice. Always do your own research.
