The mainnet was activated on September 15, 2026, in epoch 1035 (09:00 AM this morning): the per-transaction limit has been raised from 1232 bytes to 4096 bytes.

Previously, most memes, images, and videos were stored on IPFS / centralized image hosting, with only a URI left on-chain.

4096 bytes still can't fit a whole movie, but fully on-chain mini-games, memes + gameplay binding become more feasible: on-chain movies, on-chain images, and fully on-chain games will be easier.

Transaction V1 is now going live on Solana mainnet, increasing the maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. That is more than 3x the previous capacity and gives developers much more room for complex transactions.

The important part is what this enables. Larger transactions can make ZK proofs, large multisig operations, confidential transfers and more complex on chain applications easier to handle in a single transaction.

For SOL traders, I would not treat the upgrade itself as an automatic bullish signal. The real confirmation should come from price holding support, rising spot volume and healthy liquidity rather than headline driven buying.

My take: this is more of a long term infrastructure upgrade than a quick pump catalyst. If developers actually use the extra capacity, Solana could become even more flexible for high complexity applications.
