When I checked the leaderboard, $Basecat felt more worth singling out than a bunch of micro-cap cat coins: 24h around +285.7%, volume around 44.86M U, liquidity around 5.32M U, and about 19.4k holders.

What’s interesting isn’t “another cat coin pumping”—it doesn’t look like those lightning-round charts with pools of only a few tens of thousands of U. The 15m trend was pushed from around 0.009 up to around 0.036, with quite a few pullbacks in between, which suggests there’s a lot of heat—but the disagreement is also pretty clear.

For now, I won’t treat this as a stable trend. More like a thermometer for Base meme sentiment. Once cat coins get hot, they cool down just as fast.

Let’s state the risk boundaries clearly: meme volatility is high—chasing pumps can easily get you educated by a single pullback. On-chain liquidity and order-book depth will change; if the hype breaks, it can be really uncomfortable.

Something interesting is happening with stablecoins.

Ethereum still holds most of the stablecoin supply. But Base is seeing strong growth in stablecoin activity.

In June, Base processed around $565B in adjusted stablecoin volume, slightly above Ethereum at around $562B.

The interesting part is the size difference.

Ethereum has roughly $147B in stablecoins, while Base has around $5B.

So Base is moving a large amount of stablecoin value with a much smaller supply base.

This shows why volume and supply are two different things. A chain can hold less stablecoin capital while still seeing very high transaction activity.

Lower costs and faster transactions can make an L2 useful for frequent transfers, trading and liquidity movement.

Base had also processed around $26T in stablecoin volume by early August 2026, already above its full 2025 volume.

Ethereum remains a major settlement and liquidity layer.

At the same time, more stablecoin activity is happening across lower-cost networks.

The bigger trend is simple:

Stablecoins are not just sitting onchain. They are moving more frequently across different networks.

Base’s attitude toward creator air drops has shifted from hints to explicit statements. Some guesses about Base creator air drops:

1/ Imitating the Monad model. The commonality is that it places extreme emphasis on anti-bot (anti-sybil) measures and real contributions.

Copying the “Monad Cards + the nomination” setup as-is is unrealistic, but the weight of the air drop will very likely tilt toward influential X KOLs in another form.

2/ Outsourcing to Kaito, as Kaito Katalyst’s flagship collaboration project.

Previously, Base and Kaito were tightly linked (Base App launched on Kaito’s mini-app; Base as one of Kaito Studio’s first partner launches, etc.). And Kaito has relatively seasoned experience with social media influence air drops (yap-to-earn). Plus, as a Coinbase-incubated project, Base has a high regulatory sensitivity. If something goes wrong, the cost is higher. Outsourcing to a more experienced team is less likely to cause issues; even if something does go wrong, it’s also easier to shift blame.

No matter which approach is used, X is definitely a social platform that can’t be bypassed when it comes to tightly binding Base creator air drops.

I don’t know whether it’s already too late to start posting about Base now, but I think doing this could yield a much higher probability of receiving an air drop than simply doing on-chain interactions right now.
