Architecture & Infrastructure:
#appchain Independence vs
#ZK Validium Lai
The biggest difference between
@grvt_io and
@dYdX Protocol v4 lies in how they solve the consensus and settlement payment problem:
+ dYdX v4 (Cosmos Appchain): dYdX has abandoned the Layer 2 layer on Ethereum and instead moved entirely to building its own Application-Specific Blockchain (Appchain) using the Cosmos SDK. Everything—from the order book, to order matching, to consensus—is carried out in a fully decentralized manner by an independent set of validators running on their own Cosmos chain.
+ GRVT (zkSync Validium Hybrid): GRVT chooses a hybrid path—keeping centralized processing performance at the Off-chain layer for heavy tasks (such as matching the order book), but anchoring security and final settlement back to the Ethereum ecosystem through zkSync ZK Stack 🙉 (Validium mode). The order book is not stored on-chain; instead, it is coordinated by GRVT’s high-performance server, which then generates zero-knowledge proofs ($ZK-Proofs$) to finalize the order book.
