🇹🇭 Thailand Tightens Crypto Rules 🚨

Thailand’s SEC has introduced new Crypto Travel Rule requirements, requiring digital asset operators to collect customer and counterparty information, conduct due diligence, and verify ownership or control of self-custodial wallets involved in transfers.

📅 The rules will take effect on February 27, 2027.

Operators must also retain transaction records for at least 5 years and provide them for regulatory review.

The SEC says the measures aim to reduce risks related to money laundering, terrorist financing, and technology-related crimes.

A joint report by ARK Invest and Glassnode found that Bitcoin and Ethereum each require just 3 entities to reach key control thresholds affecting block production, while Solana requires 19.

However, this does NOT mean that 3 entities can directly control BTC or ETH. Mining pools, staking delegation, and network structures make the picture more complex.

Infrastructure also differs:

💰 Over $500M flowed into Bitcoin & Ethereum treasuries in the same week.

Michael Saylor’s Strategy ended its 10-week Bitcoin buying pause, acquiring 4,603 BTC for $369.7M at an average price of $80,318 per BTC.

The purchase pushed Strategy’s total holdings to 845,050 $BTC , with a total cost basis of approximately $63.73B.

The BTC purchase was funded partly through $602.8M raised from MSTR share sales.

Hours later, Tom Lee’s BitMine announced its largest weekly Ethereum purchase since June, adding 53,501 ETH worth approximately $131M.

BitMine now holds 5.9M+ ETH, representing roughly 4.9% of Ethereum’s total supply.

The London Stock Exchange (LSE) announced a partnership with Kraken parent company Payward to explore connecting regulated capital markets infrastructure with on-chain ecosystems and developing a UK tokenized equity structure. The two companies will explore wallet-based access, blockchain infrastructure, and connectivity with LSEG’s regulated market ecosystem. Subject to regulatory approval, LSE plans to list and trade xStocks on its 24-hour trading venue, LSE 24, in 2027.

Singapore Proposes Stablecoin License With 100% Reserves, No Holder Interest

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the country’s central bank and financial regulator, has proposed amendments to the Payment Services Act creating a dedicated stablecoin issuance license, with only licensed issuers allowed to label their tokens “MAS-regulated stablecoins.” Issuers would be required to maintain at least 100% reserve backing, meet redemption deadlines and refrain from paying interest or other benefits linked to stablecoin holdings.
