🇯🇵 BOJ relève ses taux. Alors pourquoi le yen a-t-il chuté ?
Imaginez emprunter une devise dont la banque centrale vient de relever les taux…
…et pourtant cette devise s’affaiblit encore. 😂
Le 18 septembre, la BOJ a relevé ses taux de 25 pb à 1,25 %, le niveau le plus élevé en 31 ans.
Le vote ? 7–2.
Mais USD/JPY a bondi jusqu’à 158,05, les traders s’interrogeant sur la vigueur des prochains relèvements.
MAIS VOICI CE QUE BEAUCOUP DE GENS MANQUENT 👀
Le marché ne se contentait pas de négocier la hausse.
Il négociait l’écart de guidage.
Le mouvement de 25 pb était largement anticipé. Ce qui comptait, c’était de savoir si le gouverneur de la BOJ, Ueda, allait indiquer une trajectoire claire pour un durcissement supplémentaire.
Il n’a pas fixé un rythme prédéterminé.
Pendant ce temps, l’écart de taux États-Unis–Japon reste assez large pour maintenir l’histoire du carry trade : un financement en yen bon marché peut encore rivaliser avec des actifs à plus haut rendement ailleurs.
Et puis est arrivé le rebondissement crypto :
BTC a rebondi d’environ 5,9 % vers 81 000 $ après la décision de la BOJ.
Donc :
Resserrement de la BOJ ≠ vente automatique de crypto.
Mais il existe un autre risque.
Si USD/JPY grimpe davantage, les inquiétudes liées aux interventions peuvent s’intensifier. Si le yen se renforce soudainement, les positions de carry trop “chargées” peuvent se dénouer rapidement.

Les marchés ne négocient pas la hausse des taux. Ils négocient l’écart entre ce qui était attendu et ce qui a été délivré.
