🇺🇸📊 US PRIVATE JOBS REBOUND — 90K ADDED IN SEPTEMBER
The U.S. private-sector labor market showed a stronger September than August.
ADP reported 90,000 private-sector jobs added in September, a notable rebound from the revised 36,000 jobs added in August. The September figure also came in above economists’ expectations of roughly 70,000.
The biggest contribution came from education and health services, which added 55,000 jobs. Leisure and hospitality added another 22,000, while manufacturing and construction added 17,000 and 15,000 respectively.
Not every part of the labor market expanded. Financial activities lost 16,000 jobs, while professional and business services declined by 11,000.
Pay growth also remained positive. ADP reported 3.2% year-over-year base-pay growth for private-sector workers, while gross pay increased 4.7%.
For markets, the important detail is that this is ADP's private-sector measure, not the government's full employment report. ADP's data has historically not matched the Bureau of Labor Statistics' monthly figures closely, so Friday's official jobs report remains important for the broader labor-market picture.
The bigger takeaway is simple: September brought a clear pickup in private hiring after several softer months, but the composition of that hiring matters just as much as the headline number.
