Is Bolivia going to put USDT into its national payment system? Economic Minister José Gabriel Espinoza confirmed that the government is assessing the option of allowing $USDT to circulate in parallel with the Boliviano and the US dollar across three tracks. At this stage, it’s still under technical evaluation—no legal tender status has been granted yet, and the detailed implementation rules have not been released. Two signals are truly worth watching: First, demand is already moving ahead of regulation. According to central bank data, since Bolivia lifted its ban on crypto trading in June 2024, the volume of crypto transactions has surged by 630%. In the first half of 2025, transaction value reached $294 million—when domestic currency credit is unstable, residents are already using stablecoins to hedge risk themselves. Second, the FATF “grey list” is the biggest variable. Frameworks for banks, wallets, and payment providers need to be advanced in sync. If the anti–money laundering requirement can’t be met, it will be difficult for the plan to truly take shape. For Tether, this is another near-official level of penetration after several countries in Latin America. For the entire stablecoin sector, the narrative of “institutionalizing emerging-market infrastructure” is still being emphasized. Dollarization in Latin America is being quietly rewritten by USDT. #Stablecoin #Bolivia #USDT

Bolivia is putting USDT onto the national payment rails. The Minister of Economy, José Gabriel Espinoza, confirmed that the government is assessing integrating Tether’s USDT into the national payment system, running in parallel with three tracks: the Bolivian boliviano, the US dollar, and three more. It is still in the technical evaluation stage; it has no fiat status yet and no timeline has been provided. The framework is being tailored specifically for banks, wallets, and payment institutions. What’s interesting is the backdrop data: since Bolivia lifted restrictions on crypto trading in June 2024, onshore crypto trading volume has surged by 630%, reaching $294 million in the first half of 2025. In an economy with weak local-currency credit and tight US dollar supply, users have already effectively voted with their feet for stablecoins. But implementation won’t be easy. Bolivia is still on the FATF grey list, so any integration plan must be layered with stricter anti–money laundering frameworks; otherwise, cross-border clearing channels will be even harder to use. The signal truly worth watching is this: stablecoins are moving from being “a people’s dollar substitute” toward being candidates for “sovereign payment infrastructure.” If Bolivia makes it work, other South American neighbors facing high inflation and foreign-exchange shortages will likely follow with similar assessments. The moat of $USDT is expanding from exchange settlement to the sovereign-level payments layer. #Stablecoins #USDT #Bolivia

Bolivia is moving USDT into the national payment system. Economy Minister José Gabriel Espinoza confirmed that the government is assessing allowing USDT to circulate in parallel with the Boliviano and the U.S. dollar. It is still at the technical evaluation stage: it has not been granted fiat currency status, and no implementation guidelines have been published yet. Regulatory frameworks for banks, digital wallets, and payment service providers are currently being drafted. A key background factor is that Bolivia is still on the FATF gray list. Any方案 for implementation must be paired with stricter anti–money laundering requirements, which is also why the timeline is unlikely to move quickly. But the underlying demand is very real. After the restrictions on crypto trading were lifted in June 2024, central bank data showed transaction volumes surged by 630%. In the first half of 2025, the trading value already reached $294 million. When confidence in the local currency is lacking and there is a shortage of foreign exchange, residents naturally use stablecoins to settle payments. Rather than fighting against it, the government may choose to bring it into the system. This path for emerging markets is worth watching: it’s not about issuing a central bank digital currency, but directly integrating existing liquidity-backed U.S. dollar stablecoins. USDT’s role in Latin America is shifting—from a gray-market tool to a quasi-official foundation of infrastructure. #USDT #Stablecoin #Bolivia $USDT

The volume of cryptocurrency transactions in Bolivia has surged by 630% since the country lifted its crypto ban in mid-2024—and now, the government is considering adding USDT to the national payment system, alongside the boliviano and the USD. This isn’t just a headline—it’s a sign that stablecoins are gradually securing a place in the real economy. This move comes as the USD becomes scarce. Bolivia has just ended its fixed exchange-rate peg. Businesses and citizens are rushing to find a safe haven, pushing crypto trading volume to $430 million in just one year. USDT has become a payment tool for remittances and imports—even the state-owned oil company YPFB has already planned to use crypto. However, don’t celebrate yet. The legal framework is still under technical review, and Bolivia remains on the FATF grey list, meaning strict AML controls. If approved, this would be a turning point for stablecoins in South America—but traders need to closely watch the enforcement rules before taking action. El Salvador is back at the center of international debate after a penal reform that allows life imprisonment for minors from age 12 when they are convicted of crimes considered serious, such as homicide, femicide, sexual violence, terrorism, or participation in gangs. The measure, signed into law by President Nayib Bukele in April 2026, is part of the hardening of the security policies that the country has been implementing since the state of exception was declared in 2022 to combat gangs. Since then, tens of thousands of people have been detained, and the Salvadoran state has strongly expanded its prison capacity. For the government, this reform aims to punish the most serious crimes more firmly and prevent minors involved in criminal structures from going unpunished. Its supporters say the measure responds to a reality shaped by years of violence and gang control in many communities. However, international organizations such as the UN and UNICEF have expressed concern about the consequences of applying such severe penalties to children and adolescents. #hechosaclarados #datocuriosos #peru #uruguay #chile #venezuela #bolivia #mexico #españa #colombia #elsalvador $NVDAB $MSFTB $SPCXB
