Ripple Prime (Ripple’s institutional prime brokerage arm) is giving Wall Street clients access to a fast-growing $9 billion market in perpetual swaps/futures linked to real-world assets (RWAs).
What the news is about
Ripple Prime is rolling out perpetual swaps (leveraged contracts with no expiry date) that track traditional assets: stocks, equity indices, ETFs, commodities (e.g., gold, silver), metals, energy, and FX.
These are offered via Trade.xyz markets on the decentralized exchange Hyperliquid. Ripple acts as principal, so institutions trade through Ripple’s regulated/prime-brokerage setup instead of dealing directly with DeFi complexities (wallets, fragmented margin, etc.).
Clients can trade 24/7 (including weekends), cross-margin these positions against other assets on Ripple Prime, and use RLUSD (Ripple’s dollar stablecoin) as collateral. Virtu is among the early clients already trading them.
This builds on earlier moves: Ripple Prime already offered crypto perps on Hyperliquid (from earlier in 2026) and has been expanding into other Wall Street activities (e.g., financing leveraged ETFs via total-return swaps, Delta One equity swaps, clearing, etc.) after acquiring Hidden Road.
The $9 billion figure refers to the rapid growth in open interest in these RWA perpetual contracts over the past year (from near zero). It’s a booming niche that lets institutions get continuous, leveraged exposure to traditional markets outside normal exchange hours.
Does this help raise the XRP price?
Mostly no direct or strong short-term effect. Here’s why:
These are RWA perps (stocks, commodities, etc.), not XRP-linked products. Trading them does not require buying, holding, or using XRP. Settlement and most collateral flows are in dollars or RLUSD.
Ripple the company benefits (new fee revenue, more institutional stickiness, stronger prime-brokerage franchise). XRP the token does not automatically capture that value. Multiple analyses of similar Ripple Prime expansions (leveraged ETF financing, equity swaps,etc. have noted the same pattern: company revenue grows, but token demand does not.
- XRP’s core use cases remain payments/liquidity on the XRP Ledger, potential collateral roles, or future XRPL settlement of more activity. This particular product leans more on RLUSD and traditional/DeFi rails.
- Market reaction so far has been muted or negative for XRP amid broader crypto weakness (price around the $1.25–$1.35 area in mid-October 2026 data, with liquidations and macro pressure). Positive Ripple company news has frequently failed to produce lasting XRP rallies when the product itself doesn’t create direct token utility or demand.
Indirect positives exist but are longer-term and speculative:
Stronger institutional relationships and “crypto-TradFi bridge” credibility for Ripple could eventually support broader XRP adoption (e.g., if more activity settles on XRPL or XRP is used more as collateral).
Growing RLUSD usage and overall platform volume keeps Ripple’s ecosystem relevant.

XRP price is still driven more by overall crypto sentiment, ETF flows, regulatory clarity, actual on-ledger usage, and macro factors. Treat company expansion news carefully—it is often better for Ripple’s enterprise value than for the token’s spot price in the near term.
