Initia's exploit is a bridge lesson, not just a "chain got hacked" headline
On Oct 23 at 14:59 UTC, an attacker used a bug in Initia's MoveVM script caching to credit themselves unbacked WETH, iUSD and USDC on the Initia L1. Initia says no native $INIT was minted and INIT supply is unaffected.
The part worth studying is what happened next. Those fake balances were sent back over the bridges: about 105 WETH and ~1.4M AUSD0 via LayerZero, plus ~1.08M USDC via Noble/CCTP. Bridges paid out real coins from their reserves, roughly $2.7M in total, which was swapped into 1,135.52 $ETH and parked in one wallet. Bitquery's on-chain review shows Noble's USDC reserve fell from about $1.09M to $63, and ordinary users' withdrawals started bouncing.
My takeaway: a bridged token is only as good as the reserve behind it and the checks on the chain that issues the copies. When the issuing chain's state can be spoofed, the bridge faithfully releases real assets anyway. Users who did nothing wrong end up sharing the loss.

• Toàn bộ phí giao dịch cầu nối theo tỷ lệ đã được miễn bỏ
• Người dùng được khuyến cáo kiểm tra ví và hoàn tất việc thu hồi tài sản trước thời hạn.
🔄 Các tài sản cần xử lý:
• Wrapped TON trên Ethereum hoặc $BNB Smart Chain cần được chuyển ngược trở lại mạng TON
