TAIEX Jumps 8% as Capital Returns to Semiconductor Stocks
📈 TAIEX closed the July 31 session at 43,119.75 points, gaining around 8% and recording its strongest advance since mid-April 2026. TSMC rose nearly 9%, becoming the main driver of the broader market due to its heavy weighting in the index.
💻 The rebound came as semiconductor stocks in the United States and South Korea posted strong gains, helping risk-on sentiment return to the AI and chip sectors after several sessions of selling pressure.
🔄 However, the rally was primarily a technical recovery following a decline of nearly 9–10% in Taiwan’s market over the previous few sessions, rather than a response to new fundamental developments from TSMC.
⚠️ The near-term outlook remains positive if foreign capital inflows and global chip stocks maintain momentum, although the rapid rise also increases the risk of profit-taking in the coming sessions.
