#bitcoin Open Interest Share Rises to 42.1%
Bitcoin is becoming a larger part of the crypto futures market as its open interest share recently climbed to 42.1%.
According to a September 11 snapshot from Binance News BTC represented about 42.1% of tracked crypto futures open interest. This was higher than the roughly 37% share recorded on September 6.
At the same time Bitcoin open interest was near $25 billion and showed little change over the previous 24 hours. Total crypto futures open interest declined to around $59.5 billion from $62.4 billion earlier in the week.
My interpretation is that the rise in Bitcoin’s share may be partly connected to a reduction in altcoin positions. So this percentage should not automatically be viewed as fresh capital flowing into Bitcoin.
I will be watching spot demand closely from here. A recovery supported by real spot buying could strengthen the bullish case. If leverage returns while price remains weak then caution may be needed.
