🇧🇯🇨🇲 BINANCE IN BENIN AND CAMEROON: TWO UNIVERSITIES, TWO APPROACHES TO DIGITAL FINANCE
On October 17, 2026, two Binance-related events took place on the same day at universities in French-speaking Africa. In Benin, discussions focused on decentralized finance (DeFi). In Cameroon, students learned about the fundamentals of trading.
🇧🇯 BENIN: THE SPOTLIGHT ON DECENTRALIZED FINANCE
At the National Water Institute (INE) of the University of Abomey-Calavi, an introductory session on DeFi was held with representatives from Binance Africa and a local manager in attendance, according to a report published by @GED .
DeFi relies in particular on blockchain and smart contracts to provide decentralized financial services. It opens up opportunities for trading digital assets, lending, and developing new financial applications.
But these innovations also come with risks: technical vulnerabilities, scams, and potential losses. Understanding them is therefore essential.
🇨🇲 CAMEROON: UNDERSTANDING THE BASICS OF TRADING
On the same day, in Yaoundé, Binance held an awareness session with the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC).
The topic was: “What is trading?”
The event aimed to familiarize students with the principles of financial markets, trading opportunities, and the associated risks.
In crypto markets, sometimes significant price fluctuations can lead to considerable losses. Training should therefore focus just as much on understanding markets as on managing risk.
💬 WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Should African universities offer more training on blockchain, DeFi, and the risks associated with trading?
