Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin recently praised Celo's growth on social media X.
According to Artemis.xyz data, the number of active addresses of Celo's stablecoins has exceeded Tron in September 2024! In this regard, Vitalik said: "This is great. Celo is helping to improve global payments and financial services. This has always been Ethereum's willingness to make the world a better place."
Because of this good news, the price of CELO tokens rose by more than 20% yesterday, becoming the third best performing token of the day. It is reported that Celo's growth has been driven by applications such as Minipay and Valora, especially in markets such as Nigeria and Kenya.
These applications have played an important role in promoting the adoption of stablecoins on the Celo platform. In particular, Minipay has established operations in four African countries since its launch in 2023 and has accumulated 3 million activated wallets.
Buterin also mentioned that Celo will transition from an independent layer 1 (L1) blockchain to an Ethereum layer 2 (L2) solution, marking Celo's transition from a base blockchain protocol to a third-party protocol integrated with Ethereum.
Meanwhile, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson criticized Buterin in an interview, but later seemed unhappy with media coverage, suggesting that his views were misinterpreted.
In response to the X post of Crypto Media, Hoskinson revealed his intention to stop engaging with them and expressed frustration with "dramatic headlines and wasted interviews."
