๐จโ๐ป๐ Security researchers detected a possible exploit involving the Hedera network.
More than US$ 5.8 million in assets would have been transferred from Hedera to Ethereum, while the
$HBAR fell more than 2% after the first alerts.
According to on-chain trackers, the funds moved across networks via LayerZero.
After that, part of the WBTC would have been converted into
$ETH .
The monitored wallet reportedly concentrated approximately:
3.203 ETH
in addition to a portion in WBTC.
โ๏ธ๐ฅBut Thereโs an Essential Point
The case is still under investigation.
As of the time the report was published, there was no official confirmation of the total amount lost or the identification of the person responsible.
It was also unclear whether the incident directly affected Hederaโs main infrastructure, some protocol built on top of it, or another connected layer.
๐ง This kind of situation highlights an important risk in the current market:
Security doesnโt end in a single blockchain.
When assets pass through bridges, smart contracts, and different networks, every connection can become a vulnerability point.
The money can leave one network, cross another, and be converted within minutes.
Thatโs why the market needs to watch:
โธNew transfers
โธAddress blocking
โธOfficial Hedera statement
โธAttack origin
โธAnd the possibility of recovering the funds.
๐ฅThe real question is:
was it an isolated failure or a bigger warning for the security of the Hedera ecosystem?
๐ Do you think bridges keep being the weakest link in on-chain finance?
