CZ also joined BNC for its opening bell ceremony. What’s the difference between buying this stock and buying BNB directly?

On October 26, BNB Standard (Nasdaq ticker: BNC) rang the opening bell in New York. Nasdaq confirmed that the ceremony celebrated the company’s name change and Alex Odagiu’s appointment as CEO. BlockBeats reported that CZ also took part in the event.

To be clear, this was an opening bell ceremony held by a company that is already publicly listed—not Binance going public today. BNC was formerly known as CEA Industries. It changed its name on September 29, while its ticker remained BNC.

I think this gives BNB some welcome exposure. Some investors are used to buying U.S. stocks and don’t want to set up a wallet or handle custody themselves. BNC gives them the option to gain indirect exposure to BNB’s price movements through a stock. Of course, whether institutions can buy it depends on their individual investment mandates.

But the math for buying BNC and buying BNB isn’t the same. Stockholders also bear the company’s expenses and liabilities, as well as dilution from any new share issuance. Even if the company’s total BNB holdings increase, each share could represent less BNB if the share count grows faster.

That’s why I’m more interested in future disclosures about its holdings: whether it keeps buying, how it buys, and whether that benefits existing shareholders.

On October 19, the company also announced plans to operate a BNB Chain validator node, with technical operations handled by a professional partner. If it can generate a sustained net return, that would add another source of income beyond holding BNB. But for now, what we have is a plan. We’ll have to wait for the company to disclose when the node goes live and how much it earns after costs—and returns aren’t guaranteed.

CZ’s involvement will bring more attention to BNC, which I see as a positive. As for whether to buy the stock, I’d also compare its share price with its net asset value per share and watch how the business develops. One opening bell ceremony alone isn’t enough to conclude that institutional investors will start buying in a big way right away.

When you connect the earlier developments, the capital strategy behind them becomes quite clear.

In June this year, YZi Labs and BNC's former management team clashed over corporate governance. The outcome was a board reorganization that reestablished the company's management authority and strategic direction.

In September, CEA Industries officially changed its name to BNB Standard, further clarifying its digital-asset treasury strategy centered on BNB.

In October, former YZi Labs investment partner Alex Odagiu officially took over as CEO, and the company also brought in professionals with expertise in securities law and regulation.

Now, the new management team has taken the BNB Standard brand to the Nasdaq bell-ringing podium. In other words, the series of management and strategic changes has finally been presented to the public all at once!!!!

At its core, this is an effort to gradually build deeper ties between BNB and traditional capital markets.

BNC was already a Nasdaq-listed company, so this bell-ringing ceremony was not an IPO.

Rather, it is trying to use its status as a publicly listed company to develop its BNB treasury into a capital-markets business that Wall Street investors can understand and participate in.

For example, it could offer indirect exposure to BNB through U.S. stocks, use the company's financing channels to expand its BNB treasury, and operate BNB Chain validator nodes so that its BNB holdings can participate in network operations and generate on-chain yield.

This aligns with the new BNC CEO's earlier stated goal of increasing the amount of BNB represented by each share.

In other words, BNC could eventually establish a capital strategy centered on BNB.

So what signal does this send?

The value proposition and narrative around BNB have changed!!!!!!

In its early days, the story was mainly about the Binance exchange and the BNB CHAIN ecosystem.

By ringing the bell, BNC is trying to extend the value of this ecosystem into traditional securities markets, giving BNB the opportunity to enter the asset-allocation portfolios of more institutional investors.

Why is this worth paying attention to?

CZ also noted at the event that BNB Chain has around 3 million daily users and produces a block approximately every 0.5 seconds.

But it’s worth keeping a cool head: ringing the bell doesn’t mean the company has added to its treasury. The stock price is highly tied to BNB, and when the coin’s price falls, the stock usually falls even harder. $BNB is now around $741, and has been trading sideways between $736 and $750 all weekend.

I think many people underestimate the significance of this.

As of July 31, BNB Standard (BNC) held 515,544 BNB, with digital assets accounting for 93.1% of the company’s total assets.

That means the fortunes of a Nasdaq-listed company are now deeply tied to BNB.

BNC has taken too many detours. Governance controversies, management changes, and capital maneuvers have consumed time that should have been spent building market trust.

The Binance ecosystem has long needed a truly professional, transparent, and capital-markets-savvy U.S.-listed BNB treasury company.

Just look at Michael Saylor’s Strategy.

It brought $BTC Bitcoin into Wall Street’s financing system, turning digital assets from passively held reserves into core assets that can be used for ongoing capital allocation.

I hope BNC can follow the same path.

When its shares trade at a reasonable premium, it can raise capital to increase its BNB reserves. When its valuation is at a discount, it should prioritize protecting shareholder interests. Ultimately, the BNB net asset value represented by each share should grow steadily—not by continually issuing new shares and diluting shareholders just to inflate the size of its holdings.

The bell-ringing ceremony gave BNB a stage in the Wall Street narrative. Whether BNC can build a virtuous cycle of ongoing fundraising, accumulation, and shareholder value creation will determine if it deserves to become the next Strategy.

Over nine years, BNB has gone from an exchange token to a core reserve asset of a publicly listed company.
