🎯 Your crypto wallet is also becoming a betting venue for current events. Phantom has just launched Kalshi in the United States.
📌 The facts (Oct. 23, 2026)
• Phantom, a widely used wallet on
$SOL , is rolling out access to Kalshi prediction markets for its U.S. users
• Identity verification is required by Kalshi, a CFTC-regulated exchange
• Fees: $0.02 per contract ($0.01 Phantom + $0.01 Kalshi), plus network fees
• Bets are funded from Phantom’s “Cash” balance (its dollar stablecoin), and winnings are paid back into it
• Some markets are blocked in Michigan, Nevada, and Washington State, where there are legal disputes with Kalshi
🧠 How it works, in simple terms
A contract pays $1 if an event happens, and $0 if it doesn’t. If it costs $0.30, the market is estimating a probability of about 30%. Phantom isn’t registered as a broker: it relies on a CFTC “no-action” letter (March 2026).
👤 Imagine Moussa (a fictional character), a student in Dakar, seeing these screenshots on social media. This offer isn’t available to him: it’s for U.S. users only. But the lesson applies everywhere.
⚖️ A caveat: Phantom says it receives a share of Kalshi’s fees, so it has an incentive for you to trade more. At $0.02 per contract, lots of small bets can add up to a hefty cost.
💡 A useful habit: before using a “free” app, find out who profits when you click.
