Bitcoin dominance has been rejected at 60% for weeks. It's now sitting at 59.7%, down from 59.2% on Aug. 19 and the altcoin market cap has expanded by roughly 33% since the U.S. Treasury announced its bond market interventions in mid-August, reaching $1.19 trillion its highest level since late January.
But here's what the "altseason is here" crowd is glossing over.
The Signal vs. The Reality
Glassnode's Altcoin Cycle Signal flipped to altcoin season on Sept. 22, with its seven-day average hitting 81.25 well above the 75 threshold that marks altcoin outperformance. Glassnode even said "today's rally has ignited the full breadth of the altcoin market".
Now look at the BlockchainCenter Altcoin Season Index. It's sitting at 41-49, depending on the day you check. The threshold for a confirmed altcoin season is 75. That index measures the percentage of the top 50 altcoins that have actually outperformed Bitcoin over a 90-day window. With it at 41, fewer than half of those assets have beaten BTC in that timeframe.
That's not a rotation. That's a bounce with better marketing.
What's Actually Moving
Dogecoin led large caps with an 11% gain. XRP added 5.7% to $1.53. Solana rose 3.6% to $117. Ether advanced 2.3% to $2,745. BNB added 1.6%.
Total crypto market cap reclaimed $3 trillion. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in nearly $1 billion on Sept. 21 their largest single-day haul of 2026, absorbing roughly 11,530 BTC.
The money is moving down the risk curve. But the structure underneath is fragile.
Open interest in perpetual futures across crypto reached approximately $160 billion — the highest since late October 2025. More than $920 million in bearish positions were liquidated on Sept. 21 as prices rose, a cascade of forced buying that mechanically accelerated the move.
That cuts both ways. A reversal at $160 billion of open interest produces a materially larger drawdown than the same percentage decline would in a lighter market.

🔹 Eine Schwachstelle in der Zahlungsengine des XRPL (ein Integer-Überlauf) geht auf etwa 2015 zurück
🔹 Ein Angreifer hätte Hunderte speziell erstellte Angebote und eine einzige Zahlung nutzen können, um ausgebbares XRP zu erzeugen. Damit wäre die feste Obergrenze von 100 Milliarden XRP durchbrochen worden
🔹 Forschende meldeten den Fehler am 22. September über das Bug-Bounty-Programm. Die Fehlerbehebung wurde am 25. September mit xrpld 3.4.1 veröffentlicht
🔹 RippleX reproduzierte den Angriff und bestätigte, dass das erzeugte XRP hätte ausgegeben werden können. Es wurden keine Hinweise darauf gefunden, dass der Fehler jemals ausgenutzt wurde
🔹 Die öffentliche Bekanntgabe erfolgte am 9. Oktober, nachdem die Node-Betreiber bereits das Update installiert hatten
📊 Meine Einschätzung: Der Kurs bewegte sich kaum (etwa 1,40 US-Dollar, rund 5,5 % weniger als in der Vorwoche), denn die Lücke wurde geschlossen, statt ausgenutzt. Ein Fehler, der das Erzeugen neuer Coins ermöglicht, ist die schlimmste Art von Schwachstelle, die eine Blockchain haben kann. Ihn vor der Bekanntgabe stillschweigend zu beheben, war daher die richtige Entscheidung. Trotzdem erinnert ein Fehler, der 11 Jahre lang unentdeckt blieb, daran, genau darauf zu achten, wie diese Netzwerke mit Sicherheit umgehen.
⚠️ Wenn du einen XRPL-Node betreibst, aktualisiere auf Version 3.4.1 oder höher. Wenn du nur XRP hältst, achte auf Wartungshinweise der Börsen.
