Delisting is a normal part of crypto trading. Every exchange reviews its tokens regularly. If a project fails to meet liquidity, volume or compliance standards, it gets removed. But the real question for us traders is: what happens to the users after delisting?
Today, 23rd October 2026, I noticed a clear difference in approach between two major exchanges.
On one side, Binance Alpha and Binance Spot are continuously cleaning up their listing. Recently we saw Binance Alpha removing tokens like PTB, AA, OWL, DORA, ELIZAOS, MEMES and others that did not meet Alpha standards. Iam holding tokens like CAI , which was delisted by Binance but nothing received. Many low-cap coins were delisted in recent months. Binance follows its official procedure, gives a notice period, and asks users to close positions or withdraw. This is standard practice for a large exchange focused on quality control.
On the other side, I received a notification from MEXC that opened my eyes. As you can see in my screenshot, MEXC distributed a "Delisting Subsidy" of 8.66 USDT Bonus to my account on 2026-10-09. The note says: PAIR, AURASOL, EMBER, SUE, LONG, STONKEX, BREW, SHARE, TOLLY, BLUECHIP, YOM, BTX, PURR USDT-M Delisting Subsidy.
This means when MEXC delisted these futures tokens, they did not just delist and leave. They actually compensated traders who were affected and held positions in those tokens. I got 8.66 USDT Bonus and also 18 USDT vouchers in my rewards hub as part of their Trading Rewards program. In total my rewards show 17.66 USDT Bonus.
This is a very user-centric model. Delisting often causes loss for small traders. Price crashes before delisting, liquidity goes down, and sometimes traders are stuck. If an exchange gives a subsidy, even a small one like $8 or $10, it shows that the exchange values its community.
I am not saying Binance is wrong. Binance is the world's largest exchange and it has to maintain strict standards to protect the overall market. Delisting is necessary to remove weak projects. Every trader should always read the announcement and manage risk before the deadline.
But MEXC's approach is something worth appreciating. They are running a 10,000 USDT perk campaign featuring real stocks like NVDA, MU and more, and along with that, they are giving Futures M-Day rewards, Fee Vouchers, Position Airdrops and Delisting Subsidies. It feels like they are trying to reduce the pain of delisting.
For future, I think all top exchanges should consider a similar subsidy model. Delisting is unavoidable, but user protection after delisting should be a priority. A small bonus, fee voucher or airdrop can help traders recover and stay motivated to trade again.
As a trader who trades on both Binance and MEXC, I have learned one thing: Always diversify, always check delisting announcements daily, and choose exchanges that not only list good projects but also take care of you when they remove them.
What do you think? Have you ever received a delisting subsidy from any exchange? Share your experience in comments.
