Stablecoin card spending hit $1.03 billion in July, up 16% from June and 200% year over year. Over 10 million purchases were made on stablecoin cards last month alone.

Composition has also changed significantly. USDC and USDT now account for 84% of crypto-card spending: USDC’s share rose from 48% to 58% over the past year, while USDT increased from 7% to 26%. Meanwhile, euro-backed EURe fell from 88% of volume in early 2024 to just 2%.

Stablecoin payments are reinforcing dollar dominance, not creating a genuinely multi-currency alternative. Liquidity, acceptance, and access to digital dollars appear to matter more than denomination in the user’s local currency, especially for cross-border spending and weaker-currency markets.
