The Polygon Foundation has announced the successful restoration of consensus and finality functions on its layer-2 scaling network within the Ethereum ecosystem. The recovery follows a software bug that caused some nodes to fall out of sync with the blockchain, disrupting remote procedure call (RPC) nodes responsible for relaying information between applications and the network. A hard fork was implemented to address the issue, bringing the network back to normal operations.

The bug originated from a faulty proposal by a validator, leading some Bor nodes—responsible for transaction ordering and block production—to diverge onto separate network forks.
