ZEC has two stories running at once, and confusing them changes the supply narrative.

The 6-H most searched panel shows ZEC at $1,289.09, up 13.86% as of writing. NU7 is planned for mainnet around November 5 at block 3,543,405. It reduces target block spacing from 75 seconds to 25, making first confirmations roughly three times faster.

But daily issuance stays the same. The 21 million supply cap and the halving schedule are unchanged. NU7 is not an immediate supply cut. Under the Network Sustainability Mechanism, 60% of transaction fees go into a reserve while miners retain 40%.

There is another important development: the preliminary plan to redirect roughly 98,000 ZEC from the grants programme towards future miner rewards has now been withdrawn after community feedback. It was never an executed token burn or approved supply reduction.

Market implication: ZEC attention may reflect the upcoming upgrade and the governance debate. But faster blocks do not automatically mean lower issuance, and a withdrawn treasury proposal should not be priced as an accomplished supply change.

Zcash ($ZEC ) made a 15.7% round trip in 27 hours, less than two days before NU7, the biggest upgrade in its history. Before looking at the price, here’s who needs to act.

If you run a node, Zcash Foundation’s Zebra 7.0.0 is mandatory; otherwise, your node will remain on the old chain. If you still have funds in the old Sprout pool, you need to move them before block 3,543,405: after NU7, those transactions will no longer be valid. Exchange holders don’t need to do anything. For mobile wallet users, CryptoTicker reports that Zodl requires an update before activation.

The countdown: at 09:44 UTC on 4/11, the chain was at block 3,541,455 according to Blockchair, with about 1,950 blocks remaining. At the current rate of one block every 75 seconds, that puts activation around early morning UTC on 6/11 (my calculation; the foundation says “around November 5”). After that, blocks will take 25 seconds.

Now, the market. On Binance, ZEC fell to $1,120 on 3/11 at 05:00 UTC, after an 8% drop on 2/11, then climbed back to $1,295.60 this morning at 08:00 UTC. ZECUSDT perp open interest rose from 419,500 to 444,900 ZEC since yesterday at 22:00 UTC (+6%), with funding at +0.01%. TokenPost noted about $1.07 million in shorts liquidated in an hour, versus zero longs. So the rebound is also driven by leverage, not just spot buying.

My take: an upgrade announced well in advance often ends up as a “sell the news” event, and leverage returning ahead of the event increases that risk. As long as $1,200 holds, a test of $1,350 before activation remains possible. Falling back below $1,200 would erase half the rebound and point toward $1,120.

First, a quick check: yesterday we said $XRP was stuck between 1.20 and 1.30 like a sandwich cookie. Today’s high was 1.2914, low was 1.242, and it closed hovering around 1.28. Neither side broke, so the cookie’s still the same cookie.

Now let’s look at $ZEC . It really put on a show today. On the 4-hour chart, it shot straight back from 1122 to 1275. Three things stand out on the chart: the double top at 1285–1298 is looming overhead, and that bearish divergence at 1395 is still there; a golden cross just formed near 1225, and MACD has turned red and started to rise, so short-term momentum is just kicking in; down below, 1182 is the neckline of the double bottom, and that deep dip to 1122 bounced right from there.

The NU7 upgrade is just around the corner, cutting block times from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. The story is real, but the chart won’t buy the story. I’m siding with the bulls, but 1285 is the only level I’m watching. If it breaks through, then we can look higher; if not, the double top plays out and price pulls back to 1182. Gold Pig’s take: $ZEC rebounded about 6.8% today, but I’m not going to chase it just because of the NU7 upgrade. Volatility is often highest right before and after an upgrade.

First, the facts:

The Zcash Foundation’s latest engineering weekly report says the NU7 mainnet upgrade is planned for around November 5.

According to an explanation reposted by Zcash’s official account, NU7 will remove 60% of transaction fees from circulation, while retaining the 21 million supply cap and the four-year halving schedule.

Binance spot $ZEC 24-hour trading volume is about $160 million, so there’s real volume behind this move.

My take:

The upgrade is a long-term matter. In the short term, price action depends on who gets in early ahead of the upgrade and who takes profits on the day it happens.

If I were to trade it, I’d rather wait until the upgrade is complete and make sure there are no issues with wallets or nodes. I wouldn’t add leverage the night before the upgrade.

While Bitcoin printed a $76,500 low overnight, $ZEC refused to follow it down — and that refusal now has a date attached.

On October 29, ZEC ran to $1,398, then one candle dumped to $1,207 and closed at $1,223, on nearly three times average volume. The next dipped to $1,180, then closed at $1,280, on about twice average volume. Sellers had the tape for one candle; buyers took it back in the next. One defended low, not a trend change — the rebound already faded to $1,251.

The fork is clean. Hold $1,180 and the NU7 clock does the talking: activation around November 5 at block 3,543,405, cutting block times from 75 to 25 seconds. Lose $1,180 and the dip-buy read dies.

• Upper resistance at 1317–1331: two attempts to break higher were pushed back; it only counts as a breakout if price moves above this range on high volume
• Support at 1200: a round-number level. If it breaks, watch the 10/24 low around 1118
• There’s usually a bout of trading on expectations ahead of the 11/5 upgrade, but be cautious on the day the “good news becomes reality”

There are three changes: block intervals will shrink from 75 seconds to 25 seconds; 60% of the fees from each block will be taken out of circulation and added to reserves; and v4 transactions will become invalid, making any remaining coins in the Sprout pool unspendable.
