This niche track of sovereign-debt tokenization has recently seen new entrants.
M1X Global has completed a seed round raising $5.5 million, led by Breed VC. Founded in 2022 and headquartered in New York, the company is not doing ordinary RWA; instead, it is building “on-chain compliant sovereign bond issuance”—using a public-private partnership model to help sovereign states move their bonds onto the blockchain.
Its first collaboration partner is the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), a small island nation that has consistently taken a bold stance in crypto legislation. Choosing smaller sovereign entities for pilot projects—because the costs are lower and policy flexibility is higher—is a typical path for cold-starting infrastructure of this kind.
Signals worth watching:
· After stablecoin legislation advances, compliant sovereign-bond assets are becoming a new yield anchor on-chain
· Sovereign-level issuers entering the market will reshape the credit-rating structure of existing RWAs
· Breed VC backing the seed round suggests institutional repricing of the “sovereign RWA” narrative has already begun
The real moat isn’t technology—it’s access permission to sovereign credit. There won’t be many players in this track, but the ceiling is extremely high.
