The digital modernization of the Central Bank of the Congo (BCC) is an important step.
But why not go further?
At a time when digital currencies and digital assets are gradually transforming financial systems, the DRC could consider a pilot project for a Congolese digital currency, in the east of the country or in another province.
Such a laboratory would make it possible to test, in our realities:
🔹 financial inclusion;
🔹 digital payments;
🔹 security and traceability;
🔹 interoperability with existing systems;
🔹 user protection;
🔹 and an appropriate regulatory framework.
It would not be a matter of copying a foreign model, but of experimenting, learning, and building a secure Congolese model adapted to our economy.
🪙 Could an old 1 Likuta coin from 1967 be the symbol of a new step in our monetary history?
As a popular proverb says:
“It's at the end of the old rope that the new one is attached.”
Yesterday, the Likuta; today, the digital;
tomorrow, why not a Congolese digital currency?
