Maracaibo Chamber of Commerce: New management model for the National Electricity System (+press release)

The Maracaibo Chamber of Commerce stated that as Venezuela has an abundant and reliable electricity supply, the national productive apparatus will gradually come back online.

The Maracaibo Chamber of Commerce (CCM) said this Friday, September 25, 2026, that «Venezuela remains immersed in an increasingly difficult electricity crisis» and added that «power rationing remains on the agenda».

«Daily power outages of up to 5 hours or more, and without notice, keep both communities and the business sector on edge across the entire country,» it said in a statement.

In that regard, it said that in the short term, «we must work toward eliminating electricity rationing, but at the same time, in the medium term, we must promote the necessary changes to consolidate the National Electricity System (SEN)».

The private institution said that to «definitively resolve the problems of the SEN,» there must be a legal framework that allows and promotes the participation of the private sector, both domestic and foreign, in all related activities of the electricity service.

«Electricity generation, while it can be opened to partnerships with domestic or foreign private capital, can remain under central state coordination and planning,» it said.

The Maracaibo Chamber of Commerce (CCM) called on the National Government to work together to solve the electricity crisis, through the implementation of a new management model that enables service normalization.

«There is no possibility of a genuine economic recovery without a stable and reliable electricity system,» it emphasized.
