🧠 OVERCOMING TRADING ADDICTION | 01
Maybe what I’m addicted to isn’t making money, but the feeling of PLACING A TRADE.
That sounds a little strange, because doesn’t everyone get into trading to make money?
But when you think about it, do we always place trades because we’ve spotted a genuinely good opportunity?
Or sometimes is it just because...
📈 The price is moving, and we’re afraid of missing out.
📉 We’ve just taken a loss and want to make it back.
😵💫 We’ve been sitting on the sidelines too long and feel the urge to trade.
🎰 We’ve just won a trade and want to place another one.
I’ve realized that I’m greedy too, and can easily get swept up in the excitement that trading brings.
The dangerous thing is that, in those moments, placing a trade can become its own reward, regardless of whether the outcome is a profit or a loss.
Over the past 4–5 months, since returning to trading, I’ve been learning to accept one truth:
The market doesn’t expect me to make money every day. And no one pays me a salary for staring at charts for 12 hours.
If there’s no suitable opportunity, don’t trade. It’s that simple, but it’s not easy to put into practice.
I’m still down overall when I look at my entire trading journey. I don’t have anything to brag about yet.
But I’m beginning to understand that to make money consistently, I first need to learn not to let the urge to trade control me.
💬 What about you—have you ever placed a trade simply because you couldn’t stand being out of the market?
