Last week a friend messaged me at midnight because his fresh $BTC buy was already a few percent underwater and he couldn't decide whether to cut it. That's the quiet tax short-term holders keep paying. You chase the bounce, your cost basis sits right on top of the price, and the first red hour feels like a personal insult instead of noise. Short-term holder supply crowding a fresh threshold is less a headline and more a case study we've already lived through. In the 2021 blow-off, this same group was the last money in and the first money out, and the unwind was messy because so many wallets were only a small dip away from a loss. The choppy stretches of 2024 rhymed with that: whenever recent buyers clustered near spot, ranges got violent, funding flipped fast, and the people who treated every wiggle like a thesis change donated the move to whoever could sit still. $BTC itself didn't change character. The hands holding the marginal coins did. What feels different this time is the mood around it. Sentiment is parked in neutral, not the kind of euphoria that usually marks a blow-off, and not the kind of despair that clears the deck either. In that middle zone, short-term holders tend to overtrade everything adjacent too, rotating into names like $INJ or $OP on a green afternoon and then dumping the core position the moment it hesitates. Compare that with the stretches when this cohort was deeply underwater. Those periods felt worse day to day, but they also flushed the weak bids and left a cleaner base for the next leg. The useful read isn't that recent buyers are always wrong. It's that a crowded short-term holder threshold usually means volatility is about to pick a side, and the accounts sized for a hold rather than a same-day exit are the ones still in the trade when it does. Where do you think this goes from here? #BitcoinShortTermHoldersReach4 #BitcoinRecoversTo #OctoberFedHikeOddsFallToAround17

The number of Bitcoin short-term holders has reached a significant milestone, now holding 4.08 million BTC. This metric often provides insights into market sentiment and potential selling pressure. An increase in short-term holders can sometimes precede price corrections as these investors are typically more prone to taking profits or cutting losses. Conversely, a stable or decreasing number might suggest conviction among newer investors. The current level warrants close observation for its potential impact on Bitcoin's price action in the immediate future. Traders should monitor on-chain data for further shifts in holder behavior. 4.08 million “young coins” are now in profit—and they’re choosing not to sell. $BTC Back near $82,000, an overlooked on-chain detail: Data from analyst Axel Adler Jr. shows that short-term holders (STHs), who have held their coins for less than 155 days, now hold a total of 4.08 million BTC—422,000 more than at the July low. These “new funds” have an average cost basis of around $74,900, putting them roughly 9% in profit at current prices. More interesting is the change in selling pressure. Analyst Murphy’s data shows that STHs have been the main group sending coins to exchanges during this pullback, averaging 2,200 BTC per hour over four-hour windows—the fourth-highest selling-pressure spike since August. But here’s the turning point: the peak on October 15 was lower than on October 8, meaning selling pressure is easing. Meanwhile, long-term holders sent just 480 BTC per hour over the same period, barely changing at all. In other words: new money is buying the dip in greater numbers, old money isn’t even looking, and panic selling is losing steam. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves: coins bought in the $82,000–$86,000 range are still overhead. Until the supply of underwater holders accumulated since August is absorbed, every rally will run into “break-even sell orders.” The real sign of a decoupling will be a move above $86,000 that holds. Until then, this looks more like a “confidence recovery” than a trend reversal. This is not investment advice. DYOR. Trading involves risk. #BitcoinShortTermHoldersReach4.08MBTC #BTC #OnChainData

BTC short-term holders rise to 4.08 million: More new buyers, but their cost basis matters moreThe most important thing to discuss about BTC right now is not “there are more short-term holders, so the price is bound to rise,” but where new buyers are concentrating their cost basis—and whether these coins will turn into selling pressure if the price pulls back. The Binance Square real-time trending list showed at 23:36 Beijing time on October 16, 2026, that #BitcoinShortTermHoldersReach4.08MBTC ranked No. 1, with 403 Discussing displayed on the page. The related market topic is this: an analysis cited by CoinNess says that the supply held by BTC short-term holders is around 4.08 million coins, up about 422,000, or roughly 12%, from July 29. Most of the new purchases were made in the $82,000–$86,000 range, with an average cost of about $74,900.

Short-term holders hit 4.08 million BTC and trend|Don’t mix measurement methodologies|BTC falls below $82,000; wait for confirmation My stance is neutral to cautious. I wouldn’t chase a rally just because of the phrase “more new buyers,” nor would I interpret a single on-chain metric as an immediate sell signal. The trending topic on Binance Square is #BitcoinShortTermHoldersReach4.08MBTC. Binance News cited analyst Axel Adler Jr. as saying that short-term holders collectively hold about 4.08 million BTC, around 422,000 BTC more than at the July 29 low. However, this is based on an analyst’s methodology, and the report itself does not provide a raw address list that I can use to reproduce the calculation. It also doesn’t mean that 422,000 BTC were newly purchased on spot markets from exchanges that day. Changes in coin age, entity identification, and methodology can all affect the classification, so “classified as short-term holders” should not be rewritten as “new institutional buying.” I specifically checked Glassnode’s publicly available Point-In-Time Short-Term Holder Supply page. Its latest visible figure is about 2.1454 million BTC, significantly different from the 4.08 million BTC in the trending topic. Glassnode says the metric is calculated using entities’ average acquisition dates and smoothed weighting around 155 days, and that its Point-In-Time historical records are fixed. The two figures may come from different supply definitions, entity adjustments, or timestamps. Without the original series using exactly the same methodology, I won’t subtract one from the other or claim that either source must be wrong. A fourth-quarter report published yesterday by Glassnode and Coinbase Institutional also noted that long-dormant supply continued to grow in the third quarter, while recently moved coins increased as well. The report’s data runs through the end of September, so it cannot prove the real-time value of 4.08 million BTC today. Checking methodologies like this is more useful for trading than simply repeating a trending figure. Why does this matter for BTC? If more coins are held by short-term holders, volatility could increase as the price approaches the cost basis of recent buyers. But holding periods alone don’t tell us whether these holders will sell next, let alone predict the next candlestick. At the time of writing, Kraken BTC/USD was around $81,842, with a rolling 24-hour low of about $80,800 and a high of about $82,826. Tonight’s move back below $82,000 only shows that the rebound has yet to stabilize. The estimated group cost basis of about $74,900 mentioned in the trending-topic report is far below the current price and shouldn’t be treated as support that must be reached tomorrow. The nearer levels to watch are whether BTC can reclaim $82,000 and whether it can decisively break above the intraday high near $82,826. If $80,800 gives way, the short-term bullish thesis is off the table for now. If I were trading this myself, I’d stay out for now. My only directional bias would be a conditional, small spot long, with no leverage. I’d wait for an hourly close above $82,850 and for price to hold $82,000 on a retest, then open a test position using no more than 5% of my total capital. I’d first take half off at $84,000, then reduce most of the remainder at $85,000. After entry, I’d close the entire position if price falls back below $82,000 or hits a stop at $81,500. I wouldn’t use the long-term holders’ cost basis as a stop-loss level. If price breaks below $80,800 first, I’d cancel this long setup and wait for the market structure and data to provide confirmation. Trending topics raise questions; position sizing and invalidation conditions determine the risk. #BitcoinShortTermHoldersReach4.08MBTC #BTC The above is solely my personal market observation and does not constitute investment advice.

The above is solely my personal market observation and does not constitute investment advice.
4.08 million “young coins” are voting, and their average buy-in price is $74,900. The latest data from on-chain analyst Axel Adler Jr. shows that short-term Bitcoin holders (new buyers who have held for fewer than 155 days) now hold 4.08 million BTC—422,000 more than at July’s low. In just the first two weeks of October, their holdings increased by 154,000 BTC. These new buyers entered the market between $82,000 and $86,000, with an average cost of around $74,900. The optimistic interpretation: demand is still there. The price fell from $87,000 and climbed back to around $82,000, and new money kept buying. The pessimistic interpretation is in the details: this group’s unrealized profit cushion has narrowed from 16% to 10%. Why is $74,900 now the most important price in the market? Because short-term holders are the most easily rattled group in the market. On-chain data from analyst Murphy shows that during the latest downturn, they transferred an average of 2,200 BTC per hour to exchanges over a four-hour window—the fourth-highest peak since August. They were the main force behind the sell-off. Long-term holders, by contrast, transferred only about 480 BTC per hour over the same window, remaining rock steady. So the setup is clear: $74,900 is the new buyers’ breakeven line, and the price has stayed above it since August 20. If it breaks below, 4.08 million coins will collectively move into unrealized losses—and this is precisely the group most likely to run for the exits in a panic. Glassnode also notes that a large number of long liquidation levels are clustered below $75,000, making the area below a minefield. What about above? The $83,000–$86,000 range is a thick supply zone of holders waiting to break even. The rebound after Wednesday’s CPI data was pushed back down at $84,000. The market is now pinned in a narrow range: below is the $74,900 “floor for new money,” and above is the $83,000–$86,000 “ceiling of old supply.” The FOMC meeting on October 27–28 will be the referee. Until then, don’t rush to bet on a direction; just watch one level: is new money’s confidence really worth $74,900? This is not investment advice. DYOR. Inflation Data Rocks Markets as Tokenized U.S. Stocks Surge Against the Trend and Bitcoin Holds Steady at $82,000 I. U.S. Inflation Data Exceeds Expectations, Sending Crypto Markets on a Wild Ride In mid-October 2026, the U.S. Department of Labor released its September Consumer Price Index and Producer Price Index data, disappointing markets. CPI rose 3.7% year over year, above the market expectation of 3.6%, while PPI surged 6.3% year over year, its biggest increase in four years. The data dealt a decisive blow to the market’s last hopes of a Federal Reserve rate cut before year-end. Crypto markets swung sharply after the release, with Bitcoin briefly falling below $80,000. Global digital asset funds saw weekly outflows of as much as $434 million, a record for a single week. However, the market proved far more resilient than expected. After a brief dip, Bitcoin quickly rebounded to around $82,000, showing strong buying support. Binance CEO Richard Teng noted on social media that the Binance platform recorded net inflows of $163 million into equity-linked assets, the highest level since early July. This also marked the fourth consecutive week of net inflows. The figures suggest that despite the dual pressures of inflation and rate-hike expectations at the macro level, institutional investors’ structural demand for the crypto market remains intact. II. Tokenized U.S. Stocks Emerge as a Hot New Trend; Binance bStocks Surpasses $1 Billion in Four Months Against a backdrop of heightened volatility in traditional financial markets, the tokenized U.S. stocks sector has seen explosive growth. Binance launched its tokenized stock product, bStocks, in June 2026. In just four months, it surpassed $1 billion in assets under management, with cumulative trading volume exceeding $40 billion. This milestone signals that on-chain trading of U.S. stocks is moving from a niche experiment into mainstream use. The rapid growth of bStocks is no accident. With high brokerage fees and barriers to cross-border investing, more and more investors are seeking more efficient ways to allocate their assets. Tokenized U.S. stocks bring popular equities such as Apple, Tesla, and Nvidia onto the blockchain, enabling round-the-clock trading, fractional ownership, and instant settlement, while substantially lowering the barriers for everyday investors to participate in the U.S. stock market. The Binance Wallet team also launched a 50,000 USDC competition to further encourage on-chain bStocks trading. On-chain data also points to strong activity in tokenized stock trading. The AGT token rose as much as 38.8% in a single day, ICNT gained 26.1%, and BASED rose 24.5%, reflecting strong market interest in tokenized assets. Several tokenized U.S. stocks, including Moderna and LIN, are now available on-chain, spanning sectors such as technology and healthcare. III. Bitcoin Holder Demographics Shift as Short-Term Holders Reach 4.08 Million BTC On-chain analysis shows that short-term Bitcoin holders now hold 4.08 million BTC. The topic sparked more than 1,275 discussions on Binance Square and garnered over 180,000 views. The sharp increase in short-term holdings reflects the continued entry of new capital amid recent volatility, but it may also signal greater short-term market volatility ahead. Meanwhile, the number of Bitcoin whale wallets has reached an all-time high. There are 20,338 addresses holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC, with a combined total of approximately 85,000 BTC accumulated. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao previously said that Bitcoin could reach $1 million faster than most people expect. His reasoning centers on rising institutional adoption, improving financial infrastructure, and a shift in structural demand. Continued inflows into U.S. Bitcoin ETFs, along with Chainalysis data showing that the U.S. became a net importer of Bitcoin in 2026, support this view. IV. Traditional Payments Giants Accelerate Stablecoin Expansion as Industry Infrastructure Continues to Improve Visa announced this week that it is moving its USDC cross-border payment capabilities from the pilot stage to a global commercial rollout, covering 180 countries and regions and enabling near-real-time cross-border settlement. Mastercard has also launched a global money movement platform that seamlessly integrates fiat currencies and stablecoins through a unified interface. The simultaneous push by the two payments giants marks the stablecoin infrastructure’s expansion from crypto-native markets into the traditional financial system. Overall, while hotter-than-expected inflation data has dealt markets a short-term blow, the explosive growth of tokenized U.S. stocks, continued institutional inflows, and improvements to payment infrastructure are laying a solid foundation for the crypto market’s long-term development. Inflation Data Rocks Markets as Tokenized U.S. Stocks Surge Against the Trend and Bitcoin Holds Steady at $82,000

I. U.S. Inflation Data Exceeds Expectations, Sending Crypto Markets on a Wild Ride

In mid-October 2026, the U.S.

Stocks Emerge as a Hot New Trend; Binance bStocks Surpasses $1 Billion in Four Months

Against a backdrop of heightened volatility in traditional financial markets, the tokenized U.S. stocks sector has seen explosive growth.

III. Bitcoin Holder Demographics Shift as Short-Term Holders Reach 4.08 Million BTC

On-chain analysis shows that short-term Bitcoin holders now hold 4.08 million BTC. The topic sparked more than 1,275 discussions on Binance Square and garnered over 180,000 views. The sharp increase in short-term holdings reflects the continued entry of new capital amid recent volatility, but it may also signal greater short-term market volatility ahead.

Continued inflows into U.S. Bitcoin ETFs, along with Chainalysis data showing that the U.S. became a net importer of Bitcoin in 2026, support this view.

IV. Traditional Payments Giants Accelerate Stablecoin Expansion as Industry Infrastructure Continues to Improve

Visa announced this week that it is moving its USDC cross-border payment capabilities from the pilot stage to a global commercial rollout, covering 180 countries and regions and enabling near-real-time cross-border settlement. Mastercard has also launched a global money movement platform that seamlessly integrates fiat currencies and stablecoins through a unified interface. Inflation Data Shock Triggers $950 Million in Liquidations, Yet Tokenized U.S. Stocks Defy the Trend and Top $1 Billion 1. U.S. Inflation Exceeds Expectations, Rattling Markets The latest data released by the U.S. Department of Labor showed that September CPI rose 3.7% year over year, exceeding market expectations of 3.6%, while PPI surged to 6.3% year over year, its highest level in four years. The hotter-than-expected inflation report immediately sparked market panic. The crypto market bore the brunt, with nearly $950 million in positions forcibly liquidated, and Bitcoin briefly falling below the $80,000 mark. However, the market showed greater resilience than expected. After Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh declined to signal an imminent rate hike, risk assets quickly rebounded, with Bitcoin reclaiming $82,000 within just a few hours. Glassnode data shows that short-term Bitcoin holders now hold a record 4.08 million BTC, indicating that market capital continues to flow in despite the sharp volatility. 2. Binance bStocks Surpasses $1 Billion in Assets Under Management in Four Months While traditional financial markets reeled from the inflation data, tokenized U.S. stocks posted an impressive performance. Just four months after launching in June 2026, Binance’s tokenized equity product bStocks surpassed $1 billion in assets under management, with cumulative trading volume exceeding $40 billion. This milestone signals that on-chain trading in U.S. stocks is moving from a niche experiment toward mainstream financial infrastructure. The explosive growth of bStocks was no accident. On the one hand, global investors are increasingly embracing on-chain assets. Tokenized U.S. stocks allow users worldwide to trade popular shares such as Apple, Tesla, and Nvidia around the clock, greatly lowering the barriers to entry associated with traditional finance. On the other hand, Binance Wallet recently launched an on-chain bStocks trading competition with 50,000 USDC in prizes, further boosting ecosystem activity. The platform now lists multiple tokenized U.S. stocks, including Moderna and Linde, across sectors such as technology, healthcare, and industry. 3. Four Consecutive Weeks of Institutional Net Inflows Signal Confidence Despite an uncertain macroeconomic environment, Binance CEO Richard Teng revealed that the platform recorded $163 million in net asset inflows, its highest weekly total since early July, and has now posted growth for four consecutive weeks. This indicates that institutional investors’ confidence in the crypto market has not been shaken by the short-term inflation shock, and that structural demand remains strong. Notably, these inflows occurred against the backdrop of simultaneous CPI and PPI shocks, suggesting that market participants are reassessing the value of crypto assets as an inflation hedge. The record holdings of short-term Bitcoin holders and institutional net inflows reinforce one another, pointing to a common conclusion: the market is undergoing a structural shift from speculation-driven activity to allocation-driven investment. 4. Visa Rolls Out USDC Cross-Border Payments Globally, Accelerating Stablecoin Adoption Meanwhile, payments giant Visa has officially moved its USDC stablecoin prefunding feature from the pilot stage to a global commercial rollout, covering 180 countries and territories. This means businesses can use USDC for near-instant cross-border settlements without relying on the lengthy settlement windows of traditional banking systems. Visa’s move echoes Mastercard’s earlier launch of a global money movement platform, signaling that the world’s two largest payment networks are both betting on stablecoin infrastructure. For the tokenized U.S. stocks ecosystem, improvements to stablecoin payment infrastructure will further bridge the gap between fiat currencies and on-chain assets, lowering the barriers to participation. 5. Market Outlook: Structural Opportunities Amid Inflation Concerns The core tension facing markets today is that persistent inflation is forcing the Federal Reserve to maintain a hawkish stance, while the rapid evolution of tokenized assets and stablecoin infrastructure is creating new structural opportunities. MSCI is set to review in November whether to include companies with substantial Bitcoin holdings in its indexes. The decision could affect Strategy’s $2.8 billion holdings and, in turn, trigger ripple effects across the Bitcoin market. For investors, the short term calls for close attention to how inflation data affects interest rate expectations, while the medium to long term requires a focus on the development of tokenized U.S. stocks and on-chain financial infrastructure. As the boundaries between traditional finance and the on-chain world continue to blur, genuine opportunities often emerge where market panic meets technological innovation. #BitcoinRecoversTo$82K #BitcoinShortTermHoldersReach4.08MBTC #TokenizedUSStocks

Last week I watched someone dump their $BTC the second the chart turned green, calling it another fakeout before the candle even closed. That hesitation is costing people real money. You either sell every bounce too early or chase it after the move is already priced in, and both habits end the same way. This recovery is worth putting next to the 2022 and 2023 bounces, because those kept failing for the same two reasons. Short-term holders sold into every green candle, and the Fed was still tightening. The setup looks different now. Holder distribution is cleaner than it was during those mid-bear rallies, and October hike odds have dropped far enough that risk assets usually catch a bid. It rhymes more with the 2020 reset than with those head-fakes. $USDT on the sidelines is starting to rotate, which is often the tell before $BTC holds a higher low. Names like $OP tend to wait for that confirmation. The sequence matters more than any single daily candle.
