The Norwegian experiment was monitored by the consulting firm The Rework in collaboration with Karlstad University and Boston College. Stress was reduced by 19%, participants went from sleeping 6.6 hours per night to 7 hours, and satisfaction with time for personal activities increased by 44%.
All of this occurred while perceived productivity increased by 13%. Of the ten participating companies that shared their business results, five reported improvements, and the other five maintained the same levels of productivity and profits as before the experiment.
