Amazon’s earnings question isn’t just “Did it beat?”🙄
Before the Q3 release, analyst consensus was around $1.97 EPS and $202.2B in revenue. The bigger debate is whether AWS growth and AI investment can translate into sustainable returns.
Amazon’s reported 2026 capital-spending forecast had risen to about $220B, putting infrastructure investment and free cash flow under the spotlight.
A headline beat could still disappoint if the outlook or spending picture worries investors. And a miss doesn’t tell the whole story without the guidance.
The numbers to compare after the release: actual results vs consensus, AWS growth, capex commentary, and cash flow.
This is an earnings preview, not a report of the final results. Update it if publishing after Amazon’s release.
Revenue reached $24.4B, up 39% year over year, driven largely by Mounjaro and Zepbound. Reported EPS was $7.22, while non-GAAP EPS was $7.48.
The company also raised its 2026 revenue outlook to $91B–$92B.
But the fine print matters: the quarter included approximately $900M in benefits, while acquisition-related research charges weighed on the earnings outlook. Strong demand is real—but it’s still important to separate underlying performance from one-off effects.
