Dogecoin is about to be able to run applications like Ethereum

DogeOs, an application layer built on Dogecoin, has just launched its public testnet. This layer enables Dogecoin to run smart contracts similar to those on Ethereum, thereby supporting applications like trading, lending, stablecoins, and games. Transaction fees are paid in $DOGE , while the original Dogecoin network remains unchanged.

Currently, Dogecoin cannot yet verify DogeOS transactions on its own, so the system temporarily relies on a group of validators for protection. The development team has proposed an upgrade to Dogecoin so that miners can verify independently, but this proposal has not yet been implemented.
