I spent hours looking into Babylon, expecting another complicated “Bitcoin yield” story. What kept me reading was much simpler: the BTC stays on Bitcoin.

Instead of wrapping or bridging it, users lock native BTC and delegate it to a finality provider. If that provider signs conflicting blocks, Babylon’s EOTS design can expose the key needed to slash the stake. Cheating effectively creates its own evidence.

Babylon Genesis already combines BTC-backed finality with BABY-staked validators. BABY is used for gas, governance, staking, and rewards. The larger goal is to let Bitcoin help secure multiple networks, although that multi-chain layer is still being developed.

I like the architecture, but I’m watching the trade-offs: covenant coordination, slashing risk, finality-provider concentration, and growing system complexity.

Can Bitcoin secure many chains without inheriting too many new trust assumptions?
