Look at Figure 1. When the amount of short-side liquidation is small, it is basically an upward trend, and the opposite is a downward trend, because the amount will move closer to the area with less resistance.

Look at Figure 2. When the amount of long and short liquidation is roughly the same, the probability of sideways trading is higher, and it may also rise or fall, indicating that at this time, neither long nor short will give in.
