The Ethereum network has reached a major milestone, surpassing 1 million validators. ETH staking volume has increased to 32 million, which is about $114 billion at current market rates and 26% of the total Ethereum supply. About 30% of ETH staking comes from the Lido platform, designed for PoS cryptocurrencies. Validators play an important role in maintaining the security and integrity of the Ethereum blockchain, but the rise in their number is causing concern in the community. Venture capitalist Evan Van Ness expressed concerns about staking saturation, while Gabriel Weide warned of potential problems with failed transactions and operational difficulties. In response to concerns about network centralization, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin proposed a solution aimed at improving decentralization by proposing to fine validators based on the average extent of their errors.
