The old dog glanced over:
$CBRS is currently reporting 220.15000, with a 24-hour increase of 11.389% and trading volume of 37199656.9022. OI has reached 47607.07. What’s most eye-catching is that the fundingRate is still -0.00001193—while the price is surging, the funding rate is negative. This combination first plays out as shorts being squeezed while holding positions; it has a typical short-squeeze flavor. It’s more informative than looking at a bullish candle alone.
The trading focus for the semiconductor and AI chain usually revolves around inventory cycles, capital expenditure expectations, computing demand, and valuation elasticity. On top of that, perpetual futures on-chain add another layer of leverage: if the spot logic is right, the crowded direction may also be cleared first. When funding is below zero, shorts pay longs, meaning the short side is more crowded. And since OI is not low at the same time, there are still enough positions in the market to be squeezed. If the price keeps pushing higher afterward, negative funding continues, and OI rises, shorts covering may keep driving the move. If the price goes sideways while OI rapidly falls, it actually indicates the squeeze-fuel is being consumed.
This time, the comparison coin list is empty. I won’t fabricate whether peers are strong or weak, and I can’t conclude that
$CBRS is already the sector leader based on that. For now, I can only confirm that it is clearly stronger within its own order book.
My take is straightforward: the market may treat the 11.389% single-day rally as a top signal. I disagree with directly trying to top-tick it. Negative funding indicates shorts are still paying, and the positioning structure hasn’t shown maximum bullish crowding yet. In terms of strategy, I only take a light position: as long as the price stays above 220.15000, OI doesn’t collapse, and funding remains negative, I’ll add a little in line with the trend. If it breaks below 220.15000 and OI clearly drops, I reduce my position—I won’t stay to “squeeze” through the end of the forced liquidation and the subsequent pullback.
If funding turns positive and keeps rising, I stop chasing and switch to observing.
The old dog previously also treated short squeezing as a fundamental reversal, but it got stuck at the high level and couldn’t get out. This time, I’ll first watch the positioning structure, and then worry about how loud the story sounds.
