• Manta Network serves as the gateway for ZK applications, utilizing a modular blockchain and zkEVM to establish a new paradigm for an L2 smart contract platform.

  • Manta Pacific addresses usability concerns through a modular infrastructure design, allowing seamless integration of modular DA and zkEVM to continually enhance the user experience over time.

  • MANTA is Manta Network’s native utility token, and is used for:

    • Governance: MANTA token holders can vote on network governance decisions on Manta Pacific and Manta Atlantic.

    • Staking: Staking MANTA contributes to the overall security of Manta Atlantic.

      • Collator Delegation: MANTA holders have the option to delegate their holdings with collators or stake MANTA to run their own collators to secure the network.

    • Network Fees: Manta Atlantic uses MANTA to pay for transaction fees.

    • Native Liquidity & Collateral:  MANTA token can be used in Manta ecosystem services as native liquidity and collateral.

  • The protocol consists of the following major components working in conjunction:

    • Modular Data Availability: call data from each transaction is handled by Celestia, significantly reducing the cost of every transaction handled on Manta Pacific.

    • Permissionless Smart Contracts: projects on Manta Pacific can deploy using Solidity-based smart contracts that are compatible with an EVM environment.

    • Universal Circuits: developers can build ZK-enabled applications by leveraging Manta Pacific’s universal circuits, which offers a library of generalized and pre-compiled ZK circuits for varying use cases including DeFi, GameFi, identity, and more.

    • zkEVM Proving: Transactions are verified once batched with ZK proofs to ensure cryptographic-level security.

  • The project has raised $60.40 million from private token sales and public token sales. In the private token sales, 24.11% of the total MANTA token supply has been sold from $0.025 to $0.5 USD/MANTA, while in public sales, 8% of the MANTA tokens were sold at $0.36 USD/MANTA.

  • As of January 15th 2024, the total supply of MANTA is 1,000,000,000 and the circulating supply upon listing will be 251,000,000 (25.10% of the total token supply)

1. What is Manta?

  • Manta Network is the modular ecosystem for web3. Users can build and deploy any Solidity-based decentralized applications on Manta and leverage its technology stack to deliver faster transaction speeds than an L1 and lower gas cost than an L2.

1.1. Project Mission & Value Proposition?

  • Project mission

    • Manta Network’s mission is to drive web3 adoption by offering an infrastructure environment that brings real and scalable use cases to the market.

    • Manta’s modular infrastructure stack allows it to leverage best-in-class emerging technologies including Celestia for DA, Polygon CDK for zkEVM, yield-bear native assets, and more innovations in the future. That modularity enables agile and flexible improvement on the infrastructure level to continuously deliver new features and services that provide better user experiences on the infrastructure level. Manta offers faster transaction speeds than any L1 and lower gas costs than any L2.

1.2. Project Key Highlights

  • Generalized ZK: Manta Pacific offers a library of generalized ZK circuits that gives any Solidity developer the tools necessary to build ZK-enabled applications by adding just a few lines of code to their existing contracts.

  • Modularized Call Data: Manta Pacific leverages Celestia to enable modular DA, making it the most inexpensive L2 to perform transactions on. Modular DA separates the call data, reducing gas costs significantly for the user.

  • Type 1 zkEVM: Manta Pacific uses Polygon CDK to offer a Type 1 zkEVM, which offers a native EVM experience on L2.

  • Permissionless: Manta Pacific is a public L2, which gives developers equal opportunity to build and deploy scalable applications.

  • Native Yield: Manta Pacific offers native yield-bearing support for ETH and USDC based tokens.

2. Technical Infrastructure

Manta Pacific: Modular L2 on Ethereum - Manta Pacific is the first L2 to transition to modular DA, and uses Celestia to enable that functionality. Call data from Manta Pacific transactions are posted to Celestia. Thus, transactions on Manta Pacific can execute at a fraction of the cost of transactions on other L2s.

  • Manta Pacific uses a modified OP Stack and is transitioning over to a multi-prover system to enable ZK proof generation for batched transactions. It will fully migrate over to the ZK proving system, transforming Manta Pacific into a zkEVM.

  • Manta Atlantic: The substrate L1 designed for optimal performance for verification of private on-chain identity. Manta Atlantic has compiled ZK circuits on the runtime, enabling the fastest execution for local proof generation compared to any other ZK-enabled L1. Manta Atlantic specializes in on-chain identity.

  • Celestia: Celestia is the first modular Data Availability (DA) solution for Ethereum developers, which scales based on Data Availability Sampling (DAS) and is optimized to provide the data throughput required for millions of aggregations without compromising the security of end-users.Manta Pacific leverages Celestia’s modular data availability to become the first EVM-equivalent ZK-application platform, providing a high-performance Layer2 solution that balances scalability and security

  • Polygon: Polygon zkEVM Beta is the leading ZK scaling solution that is equivalent to Ethereum Virtual Machine.  Manta Network is integrating with Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK), an open source toolkit for building zkEVM L2s.

  • LayerZero: LayerZero is an open permissionless protocol that allows the seamless movement of data, assets, and information across diverse blockchains while maintaining optimal levels of efficiency and security. This significant integration enhances interoperability within the Manta Pacific network and unlocks the vast potential of cross-chain liquidity.

  • Space ID: SPACE ID is building a universal name service network with a one-stop identity platform to discover, register, trade, manage Web3 domains. This collaboration will enable .manta domains to offer a seamless, secure, and personalized Web3 experience.

  • Quickswap: QuickSwap is a Layer 2 decentralized exchange and automated market maker (AMM).With this integration, users can easily swap, provide liquidity, and farm DeFi assets. Enjoy increased liquidity and access to a wide range of DeFi features.
