About Firo (FIRO)

Firo, formerly known as Zcoin, is a Layer 1 privacy blockchain catering to cryptocurrency privacy and mining. The $FIRO coin is the Firo blockchain native asset that powers its ecosystem. The blockchain is designed to employ zero-knowledge proofs, allowing users to destroy coins and then redeem them for new ones with no transaction history.

Firo employs a hybrid consensus model that combines alleged Proof-of-work (PoW) security with masternode-secured Long Living Masternode Quorums-based Chainlocks. Quorums of masternodes vote on the first valid block seen and sign it as a checkpoint. Blocks are final once confirmed as long as Chainlocks is enabled. The system reverts to Nakamoto consensus if masternodes are taken over to prevent signing.

FIRO mining requires only a basic home computer setup, purportedly lowering participation barriers. On average, the Firo blockchain confirms a block every five minutes and awards 12.5 Firo coins as block rewards.

The FIRO coin, like Bitcoin, has a halving schedule. Mining rewards are approximately cut in half every four years to make the asset scarcer and encourage early adoption.

The development team is working on Elysium, a tokenization layer that will allow users to incorporate Firo's privacy features into their own token. FIRO will be used as transaction fees on that layer. The live price of FIRO is updated and live-tracked on Binance in real-time.

People Also Ask: Other Questions About Firo

  1. What is FIRO Used For?

FIRO is the Firo blockchain's native platform asset, enabling users to partake in private transactions on the network through transaction fees.

Some key aspects of Firo's utility include:

    1. Privacy: Firo uses the Lelantus privacy protocol, which enables users to transact privately without revealing their identities or transaction amounts. This protocol allows for the burning and redeeming of coins while obscuring the link between sender and recipient, ensuring transactional privacy.

    2. Fungibility: Firo enhances the fungibility of its cryptocurrency, as the Lelantus protocol makes it difficult to trace the transaction history of individual coins. This ensures that all Firo coins are interchangeable and maintain equal value, regardless of their history.

    3. Masternodes and Incentivized Nodes: Firo incorporates masternodes and incentivized nodes, which help secure and maintain the network. These nodes receive a portion of the block rewards in return for their services.

    4. Governance: Firo allows community members to participate in its governance through voting and proposals. This empowers the community to contribute to the project's development and direction.

  2. Who is the Founder of FIRO?

Firo, initially called Zcoin, was co-founded in 2016 by Poramin Insom and Reuben Yap. Insom is a Johns Hopkins University graduate in Information Security, where he laid the foundation of Firo. Before co-founding Firo, Yap had over ten years of experience in law, specializing in legal and institutional framework advisory work. He manages the development and research teams.

  3. What is the Maximum Token Supply of FIRO?

At the time of writing, the maximum supply of Firo is 21.4 million FIRO, with a circulating supply of over 12 million FIRO. In January 2017, FIRO price reached an all-time high at $126.66 per coin.

  4. What Makes Firo Different From Others?

The project focuses on providing privacy and anonymity for its users in cryptocurrency transactions. Insom and Yap created Firo to address the growing concerns about privacy and security in the digital currency space. The platform employs advanced cryptographic techniques and privacy protocols to ensure users can conduct secure, private transactions without revealing their identities or financial information.

Firo is a blockchain catering to privacy needs while keeping minimal computational requirements, allowing almost any user to mine for Firo coins. The network has even provided real-world functionality as it conducted political elections. In 2018, the Thai Democrat Party utilized Firo's privacy features to elect its party leader, supposedly being the world's first large-scale political election on a blockchain.

  5. How to Mine FIRO?

According to Firo’s website, the following steps are to be followed to mine FIRO. You'll need suitable mining hardware, mining software, and a Firo wallet address. First, choose between GPU and CPU mining, with GPUs providing higher efficiency. Next, select compatible mining software such as T-Rex, CryptoDredge, or XMRig. Download and install the mining software of your choice, then configure it with your wallet address and a mining pool. Mining pools like FiroPool, Mintpond, or 2miners can help increase your chances of earning rewards. Joining a pool involves entering the pool's address, port number, and login credentials into the mining software configuration. Finally, start the mining software and monitor your progress.
