On January 24, Binance delivered a virtual law enforcement training session to officers from the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
The Evolution of Cyber Policing
Hosted by Binance, this was a half-day virtual law enforcement sharing session attended by over 30 officers from INTERPOL. Led by experts of Binanceās Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) unit, the sharing covered integral topics on law enforcement, centered around cryptocurrency investigations and cyber policing in the web3 space.
Ā The session provided a detailed exploration of the mechanisms and techniques that Binance employs to support international authorities and law enforcement agencies in the fight against cyber threats. Officers were provided insights into how they could collaborate with Binance in criminal investigations, including assistance in data request procedures, freezing or seizing illicit funds from the platform, and the proactive practical assistance provided by the investigators from Binance.
Buttressing Cybersecurity through Partnerships
Horest Au Yeung, a representative from INTERPOL, shared his insights following the session: āAs the adoption of digital assets continues to rise, we inevitably start witnessing more crimes in the digital space. It is therefore crucial to hold more cross-collaborations between industry experts such as Binance and the law enforcement community to facilitate information sharing and refine mitigation strategies to tackle this emergent type of cyber transgressions effectively. In 2023, Binanceās Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) unit worked to deliver 120 in-person and virtual training sessions that were met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from the law enforcement community.
