Binance Charity to Airdrop up to $1 Million in BNB to Users in the Taiwan Earthquake Region

2024-04-05

In response to the recent devastating earthquakes in Taiwan, Binance Charity will airdrop up to $1 million in BNB to Binance users identified as living in the areas affected by the tragedy.

Identification of the users will be based on their KYC (identity verification) or POA (proof-of-address) information indicating that they reside in Hualien County, which has suffered the most significant impact.

Users who have completed KYC or POA before April 5, 2024, in the Hualien County area will receive $120 in BNB directly to their Binance accounts. Furthermore, for any existing users in the region who have registered before April 5, 2024, and complete the POA from April 5, 2024, to April 20, 2024 (both dates inclusive), we will donate $25 in BNB directly to their Binance accounts.

We expect the funds to reach eligible users starting April 8, 2024.

In recent years, blockchain and cryptocurrency have provided a new way of charitable giving, making donations faster, low-cost, and more transparent. In addition, using digital assets allows donations to be delivered directly to beneficiaries without intermediaries, and also gives beneficiaries more freedom to prioritize their needs in how to use the funds.

Binance CEO Richard Teng said: “We are deeply saddened by the impact of the recent powerful earthquake in Taiwan. We hope to lend a helping hand to the people affected by the disaster. For those who received donations but were not impacted by the earthquake, we also encourage them to pass on the funds to those who are actually in need.”

In this critical moment, Binance stands by our users and community. In the past, Binance Charity has also provided support to users in Ukraine, Turkey, Libya, and Morocco.
