1. Fed actually raised rates
The Federal Reserve raised the federal-funds target by 25 bps to 3.75%–4.00% on September 16. More importantly for risk assets, the new projections indicate that policymakers expect another hike before the end of 2026, while inflation expectations were revised higher.
That is more hawkish than a simple one-and-done hike. Higher rates generally reduce liquidity and make speculative/risk assets such as crypto less attractive.
2. CLARITY Act failed
On September 15, the Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act. The procedural vote was 49–50, below the 60 votes required.
The immediate market reaction was negative. Bitcoin dropped roughly 3.3% on September 15, with the daily low around $75,025.
Bitcoin ETFs also recorded approximately $450 million of outflows on the same day, adding another source of selling pressure.
3. Technical picture
BTC is currently around the $76K area. The important structure is:
$80K–$82K → major resistance
$76K–$77K → immediate resistance/support zone
$75K → critical short-term support
Below $75K → risk of another downside leg
BTC has already lost the 20-day EMA around $76,856, according to recent technical analysis.
My directional scenario

CLARITY failure

Regulatory uncertainty

Another potential hike signaled

Higher-for-longer liquidity conditions

Pressure on BTC
So, rather than expecting an immediate sustained recovery, I would treat $75K as the key battlefield.
If $75K breaks decisively, the next downside area I'd watch is roughly $72K–$73K, followed by $68K–$70K if selling accelerates.
For the bearish thesis to weaken substantially, BTC would need to reclaim and hold ~$77K, followed by a convincing move back above $80K.
Bottom line: based on today's Fed decision + yesterday's CLARITY failure + current BTC structure, the short-term setup points downward first, with $75K being the key level to watch. This is a market analysis, not a certainty or a prediction of the eventual outcome.
