📉 XRP falls as Congress hits the brakes on crypto regulation
Today, XRP trades at $1.03, down nearly 10% over the past month. The reason isn’t only technical — it’s political.
What happened?
The U.S. Senate postponed the review of the CLARITY Act (the rule that would set clear guidelines for exchanges and digital assets) until at least September. Every time regulation is delayed, the market interprets it as more uncertainty, and institutional investors typically reduce exposure until there’s clarity.
Data that confirms this caution:
🔹 Weekly inflows into XRP ETFs fell to just $1M, from $14.9M the previous week
🔹 However, on August 6 there was a daily rebound of $3.5M in inflows — a sign that not everyone is leaving
🔹 Ripple released 1 billion XRP from its reserve on August 1 (part of its usual monthly plan), though historically it returns much of it to the reserve rather than putting it into circulation
Why this matters beyond the price
The CLARITY Act isn’t only about XRP — it would determine how ALL exchanges operate in the U.S. If the debate is delayed, the industry continues operating in a regulatory gray area, which affects institutional confidence overall, not just Ripple.
My take: XRP’s drop isn’t panic — it’s a market waiting for clarity. The real question isn’t “when will XRP go up?” but “when do we have clear rules?”
Do you think the CLARITY Act gets approved this year, or will it keep getting postponed? 👇
