🔐 What is a hardware wallet?
A small USB-like device that stores your crypto keys offline. No internet connection = no hackers. That was the theory.
🐛 What went wrong?
A bug in the firmware (the software running the device) exposed private keys. Private keys are like the master password to your crypto. Once a hacker has it — your funds are gone. Forever.
⚠️ Why is this scary?
Even people who did EVERYTHING right got hacked. This is not user error. This is a product failure.
🛡️ What should you do?
→ If you use Coldcard — update firmware to the latest version IMMEDIATELY
→ Generate a completely NEW recovery phrase after updating
→ Move ALL your funds to the new wallet address
→ Updating alone is NOT enough — you must move your funds
