I’ve been digging through Dusk again, and I’ll be honest,🔥 I’m still trying to make sense of what I’m seeing.

I started with the institutional story because that’s what caught my attention in the first place. RWAs, NPEX, Chainlink CCIP, enterprise use, all of that sounds interesting. But after spending more time looking at the actual numbers, I found myself asking a much simpler question: where is the activity?

The trading volume can look decent at first glance, but once I look at where that volume is actually coming from, the picture feels different. The same goes for staking. There are clearly people using the network, but I’m not seeing enough yet to confidently say that institutions are already the main source of activity.

Maybe that’s completely normal. Maybe I’m just looking at Dusk before the bigger flows arrive.

That thought also changed how I looked at the 500ms latency alert. I don’t really care if 500ms sounds like a good number on its own. What I care about is whether that number actually helps identify real fork events. If it creates a pile of false alerts, then a technically neat metric doesn’t mean much to me.

I’d rather look at latency together with packet loss and validator availability, then check the ROC-AUC and, more importantly, the confusion matrix. I want to know what the system catches, what it misses, and how noisy the alerts become when the threshold changes.

That’s the part I find genuinely interesting.

The more I look into Dusk, the more I feel like the important question isn’t whether the story is good or bad. It’s whether the infrastructure being built today is actually starting to turn into measurable usage.

Maybe the answer is still “not yet.”

And honestly, I’m fine with that. I’d rather understand where the network actually is than convince myself it is already somewhere it hasn’t reached.
