Bitcoin just doesn't let you spend half an output, so if your position only has one vault, liquidation can't take a slice — it takes the whole thing. Early on I thought One thing that stands out about Babylon's roadmap is that it isn't trying to do everything at once. It's phased, and each stage actually seems to set up the next one instead of just being a marketing checkpoint.
Phase 1 was really about proving there was demand at all. Over 57,000 BTC got staked back in 2024 — real evidence that Bitcoin holders were willing to put their coins to work securing other PoS networks without handing over custody. That's not a small thing; getting Bitcoin holders to do anything besides hold has historically been hard.
Phase 2 is where things are now, with the Babylon Genesis Chain — the first chain actually secured by native Bitcoin staking. This is the part I think matters most conceptually: it's the moment Bitcoin stops being purely a store of value and starts functioning as an active security layer for something else.
