It sounds logical… but in investing, this comparison can be completely misleading.

Let's imagine two cakes.

Cake A costs $20 and is cut into 4 slices.
Cake B costs $20 too, but it's cut into 20 slices.

Would you say one slice from the second cake is "cheaper" because the number on the price tag is smaller?

Not really.

A stock works in a similar way.

The price of one share only tells you how much one piece costs. It doesn't tell you how valuable the entire company is.

That's why professional investors look at **market capitalization** instead.

Market Cap = Share Price × Number of Shares

Here's a simple example:
