That’s what made the liquid staking side of Babylon interesting to me. The basic problem is simple: BTC can help secure other networks, but once it’s locked for staking, that capital can become less useful elsewhere.
Babylon’s ecosystem is trying to solve that with LST/LRT-style primitives. Instead of leaving staked BTC completely idle, protocols such as Lombard, Bedrock, Solv, and Lorenzo create liquid representations that can move through DeFi while the underlying BTC participates in Babylon’s staking system. Babylon’s current documentation lists LBTC, SolvBTC.BBN, UniBTC, and stBTC among the supported liquid staking assets.
The idea is basically: BTC gets used for security, while the liquid token can potentially be used for lending, liquidity, trading, or other strategies. Lombard, for example, describes LBTC as a yield-bearing token backed by BTC staked through Babylon.
What I find interesting is how the ecosystem is moving beyond a single staking product.
