I just experienced an important Binance Futures lesson firsthand.

My QNTUSDT Perpetual Long at 15× was showing an extraordinary +1,316.43% ROI, with an entry around 191.79 and an average close around 360.21.

I did not place a Stop Loss or manually close the position.

Then Binance notified me:

“Deleveraging (ADL) event has occurred on your QNTUSDT position.”

What happened?

During elevated volatility and large-scale liquidations, my position reached a high ADL ranking.

Binance’s Auto-Deleveraging (ADL) mechanism can automatically reduce or close profitable leveraged positions when the Futures system needs to manage extreme market conditions and liquidation risk.

So this wasn’t a normal Stop Loss.

It wasn’t me panic-selling.

It was ADL — an exchange risk-management mechanism.

⚠️ The lesson for Futures traders

A huge unrealized profit doesn’t mean the position is completely under your control.

With high leverage:

More leverage → greater exposure → greater risk.

And during extreme volatility, even a winning position can potentially be affected by ADL.

My QNT trade is a perfect reminder:

Profit is not the same as control.
Leverage magnifies gains — but it also changes your exposure to exchange risk mechanisms.

If you’re trading Binance Futures, don’t just watch your PnL.

Watch your leverage, margin ratio, liquidation price, ADL indicator and position size.

Sometimes the biggest lesson comes from a trade that went exactly the way you wanted — and still closed differently than you expected.
