Since 1946 the US has held 20 midterm elections. One year after every single one of them, the S&P 500 was higher. 20 out of 20, with an average gain of roughly 15%. 🗳️ Americans vote today, so you'll see this stat everywhere this week. My problem with it: 20 data points is a tiny sample, and the weakest year, 1946, scraped out just +0.8%. Meanwhile the Fed hiked in September, the 10-year yield sits near 4.9%, and $BTC is chopping around $76K with spot ETF outflows. What years of trading teach you: seasonal stats are fine for a bias, useless for sizing. If a position only works because "midterms are bullish", it's a hope, not a trade. Put your stops where the chart says, not where the calendar says. Do you trade seasonality, or ignore it? #Midterms #stockmarket #BTC

Midterm day is here and crypto traders are watching the ballots. BeInCrypto notes Americans vote today for all 435 House seats and 35 Senate seats. It also cites past midterms: Bitcoin rose 25% and 45% in the year after the 2014 and 2018 votes, though a Bloomberg poll of opted-in respondents leaned bearish under Democratic control. With $BTC near $76,700 and Fear & Greed at 26, sentiment is already cautious going in. History is a guide, not a promise. Not financial advice. Which matters more for crypto from here: election outcome or the Binance hack fallout? $ETH #Midterms #Bitcoin #CryptoNews

Election day in the US, and crypto is watching the ballot box. Midterm voting is today, and CoinDesk reports crypto PACs made a big push in the final weeks before November 3. Separately, the SEC just published an FAQ on how it classifies crypto tokens. My take: the outcome could shape market-structure legislation more than any single price candle this quarter. Question: which matters more for crypto in 2027, clear US rules or a friendlier Fed? $BTC $ETH #Midterms #CryptoRegulation #SEC

#Midterms ARE TOMORROW. Here is the stat almost nobody brings up. The #S&P500 has never been lower 12 months after a midterm election. Not once in 19 tries going back to 1950. Wars, oil shocks, recessions, it didn't matter. Average gain over those 12 months is about 15%. Measured by calendar year instead, the year after a midterm has averaged a 20.9% total return. Baird ran it from the midterm year's actual low and got 32%. So why is everyone miserable right now? Because the Shiller CAPE is at its second highest reading in history. The only time it was higher was late 1999. The Buffett indicator sits around 235%, also near a record. That is the real bear case and it has nothing to do with who wins tomorrow.

$2.2B of CME bitcoin shorts are sitting there ahead of the midterms. Per CoinDesk, roughly 29,220 BTC-equivalent short positions on CME were flagged, with $21.99B in short-side taker volume over 24 hours. Large exchange withdrawals are also being read as early seller exhaustion, though the Binance hack has muddied positioning data. My take: crowded shorts can fuel a squeeze if price lifts, but the data is noisy right now and the election could cut either way for crypto legislation. 🚨 TUESDAY'S VOTE ALREADY HAS A VOLATILITY BUMP PRICED IN Bitcoin options traders are not waiting for results to get nervous. Implied volatility on $BTC options expiring Nov 4, just after US midterm election day on Tuesday, Nov 3, sits near 43.5%, well above the roughly 36% priced for expiries after that (CoinDesk Daybook, Nov 2). That bulge is the tell. The curve normally slopes up with time, so a near-term expiry trading hotter than later ones means traders expect a short burst of movement as results land, not a lasting regime change. Open interest backs that read: crypto futures volume jumped 56% in 24 hours to $111.8B while total open interest barely moved at $137.1B. More trading, no big new money. 📊 Why it matters History gives the bump a second layer. Bitcoin fell after each of the last four midterms, by 27% to 72% (Ali Martinez, via Bitcoin.com, Nov 2), and its cycle lows arrived 13 to 71 days after the vote in the last three cycles (13 days in 2022, 39 in 2018, 71 in 2014). Polymarket now prices a Democratic sweep of Congress at 72% on over $51M in volume. But a pattern is not a promise. A midterm volatility bump is not the same as lasting turbulence, and one spike in implied vol does not equal a crash call. The 2022 low came 13 days after the vote, the 2014 low took 71, so even if the pattern rhymes, the timing window is wide. My take: the bigger question is not who wins a chamber, it is whether the result changes the policy path for crypto and risk assets, or just clears uncertainty for a few days. $ETH is holding near $2,288, up 0.7% in 24h, while BTC sits near $77,787, down 0.35% (spot data, Nov 2). Neither is panicking yet. 🎯 What to watch: - Tuesday's vote and the first results calls - Whether Nov 4 expiry vol collapses once results are known - Friday's jobs report, the next macro catalyst after the vote - Whether spot ETF outflows extend after Friday's $643M BTC exit (SoSoValue) Is Tuesday a volatility event to trade through, or the start of the post-midterm slide? 🐂🐻 Not financial advice. The options market is pricing a short, sharp midterm shock for $BTC, not a long storm. Per CoinDesk, implied volatility on Nov. 4 expiries sits around 43.5%, versus roughly 36% for the expiries after it. The curve settles back near 36% by late November. Midterms week and crypto: does the vote even matter? $BTC is holding near $78,000 and $ETH near $2,290 as the US midterms approach (FXStreet, TokenPost). Several desks note crypto's link to election outcomes is weaker than its link to liquidity conditions. Meanwhile spot BTC ETFs saw $643M net outflows on Oct 30 (KuCoin report), so flows look cautious into the vote. My take: headlines may move the chart for a day, but liquidity decides the trend. 🗳️ $TRUMP ECSTASY BEFORE THE MIDTERMS: THE POLITICAL TOKEN MOVES AHEAD OF THE POLLS On Tuesday, November 3, the United States votes in the midterms, and the market is already taking a position before the polls open. To me, when politics sets the tone for the week, the political token moves first: it doesn’t wait for the result—it prices in the anticipation. Crypto's $176M midterm bet: the real trade is the Clarity Act, not the next candle A Reuters review out this week puts crypto's spending on the US midterms at roughly $176 million across 100+ races. Fairshake and its affiliate PACs account for about $150.8M through Oct 20, with other crypto groups adding around $25M. Fairshake says 53 of the 58 candidates it backed in primaries and special elections are on the Nov 3 ballot. My take: this isn't really about pumping $BTC next week. The stated goal is the Clarity Act, which would put most crypto oversight under the CFTC. That bill stalled this session, and as Reuters notes, without legislation, agency-level rules written under this administration can be reversed by the next one. The money is buying durability, not a price target. What I'm watching: - Election results on Nov 3 and which chamber flips, if any - Whether Clarity gets a real path in the next session - The Fed decision on Oct 28 as the nearer-term driver Meanwhile $BTC sits around $80.7K, up about 1% on the day. Policy is a slow catalyst; macro and flows still set the short-term tape. #Bitcoin #CryptoRegulation #ClarityAct #Midterms Not financial advice.

The crypto industry has now spent about $176M across more than 100 US midterm races, according to a Reuters review published Oct 27. About $150.8M of that came from the Fairshake super PAC and its affiliates through Oct 20. Other crypto groups added roughly $25M. The biggest single target is the Ohio Senate race. Crypto money there is past $68M, per AdImpact, most of it aimed at Sherrod Brown, the former Senate Banking chair the same network spent heavily to beat in 2024. The part worth noticing: the ads barely mention crypto. They lean on taxes and immigration, and most run under affiliate names like "Defend American Jobs" and "Protect Progress". Fairshake says 53 of the 58 candidates it backed in primaries won. For the market, this is about the next few years of rules, not next week's price. A friendly Congress makes bills like the CLARITY Act easier to pass. If Brown wins anyway, the industry spent big and still gets one of its loudest critics back in the Senate.
