Bitcoin Isn't Moving Much. So Why Are Altcoins Suddenly Moving?
Bitcoin is sitting around the $83K area, but look underneath the surface and the market feels very different.
Some large altcoins are making double-digit moves while BTC is barely moving.
That raises a more important question:
Is this the beginning of a broader rotation into altcoins, or are traders simply jumping between isolated opportunities?
Right now, I wouldn't call it a confirmed altseason.
The market is too selective for that.
But the volume tells us something is happening.
Altcoin spot trading activity has been running at a much larger share of the market than usual, while some of the biggest moves are happening away from Bitcoin.
That's the part I care about.
A real rotation usually doesn't stay with one or two coins.
You start seeing:
• more sectors participating
• volume following the moves
• pullbacks getting bought
• previously quiet coins waking up
• strength spreading beyond the first group of winners
That's what I'd be watching into October.
The mistake is looking at one green candle and calling it a new bull phase.
The better question is whether the strength keeps spreading.
If Bitcoin stays relatively stable while more altcoins start producing higher lows and reclaiming important levels, the market structure becomes much more interesting.
If the moves remain isolated and every pump immediately gives everything back, then we're probably looking at rotation rather than a broad altcoin expansion.
So I'm watching the market underneath Bitcoin now.
The next big clue may not come from BTC itself.
It may come from how many altcoins can actually hold their moves.
