Google updates crypto ad requirements in the UAE
On October 21, 2026, an update to Google Ads will take effect for campaigns targeting the United Arab Emirates. The official notice is dated October, but does not specify the day it was published.
To advertise exchanges and software wallets, Google lists licenses from four authorities: CMA, DFSA, FSRA, or VARA. Advertisers need an accepted license, Google certification, and must meet all other local legal requirements.
The scope depends on the campaign's target: the policy applies to accounts in any country that advertise these services to users in the UAE. It is not enough for the company to be domiciled there.
Crypto advertising was already permitted under certain conditions in that market. Therefore, this change should be read as an update to the requirements, not as Google's first opening to crypto ads.
There are also product-specific limits. The general policy continues to prohibit ads for initial coin offerings, DeFi trading protocols, and crypto loans. Authorization to advertise an exchange does not automatically allow advertising for any product.
For violations of this policy, Google says it will issue a warning at least seven days before suspending the account. This timeframe refers to the Google Ads process, not a guarantee for those who use the advertised service.
Market perspective: the change may affect how authorized platforms attract users. Its effect on crypto demand has not been demonstrated; advertising certification also does not guarantee solvency, security, or profitability.
